Default i called chuck

i couldn't wait any longer. sumwon is fine, a bit tired but ok. scoped her, she came back clean. like he said, sometimes you just get beat. we (and she) live to fight another day!! she got a small check, which pays for shipping to toga--and like i told him, at least she's not putting him in the hole. filly is fine, altho the humans around her are not right now--all a bit depressed.
but as that dark guy hemingway said, the sun also rises. forward!

asked what calvin had to say...he said nothing of note. seems the rail may not be the place to be, but being first on the card,as chuck said, hard to know how the track is playing.

maybe willie will be available next time, they suit each other.

hopefully everyone will make some dough at the windows, ease that pain a bit.

Danzig,

Glad to hear she's ok and came back well.

As a partner, I think we need to be honest about her. Borel or Martinez would not have mattered. It seems pretty clear she has distance limitations. Race 3 winner won on rail, so it's not that. I think Chuck had it right some days you get beat.

I for one think she will love 6.5 to 7.5 Furlongs. Even on turf maybe.

All in all you got to be happy with all thats happened with her.

NC Tony

Thanks for the report, Danzig! Maybe a break and some cajun cooking is just what the doctor ordered.

Thanks Z.

The Sun Also Rises was thoroughly depressing for me.
Wake up, get drunk,do something foolish traveling around, fall asleep.

oh yeah, we're all happy with her for sure. like i told chuck, just glad she continues to pay her own way--wouldn't want him in the negative on this. we're all in it for the fun, but it's still a business for him-and no daily rate, so i'm glad she's making something for his sake.

That's good to hear. Maybe a drop to the claiming ranks should be considered...at least at 'toga.

Watch the 8th, it was like an absolute replay of the 1st. The only horse to run a step in the stretch on the rail was the winner of the 3rd. It was definitely not the place to be today. Sucks cause yesterday it was the place to be. Three in the Bag yesterday goes six in 1:10 and beats superior horses. Today Sumwon and Mandurah come through in 1:13 and can't do a thing in the stretch. We got the wrong day to run.

Default She's great!!

Got home a few hours ago - stopped by the barn a few hours after the race to thank Cherie for all of the work she does with SWLY - I was SHOCKED to see SWLY up and about - looking, to my untrained eye, bright eyed. A bit tired but still looked good. She was singing for her supper, too. I took lots of pictures and will send them out to all tomorrow.

SWLY is a very sweet filly, she's smart and looks like she wants to be in the winners circle. We'll get ther soon and it will be a great trip! (also - you'll see in the pics that Calvin lets her have her way, doesn't try to hold her, the reins are limp around her neck.... not blaming the jockey but maybe holding on and leaving something for the stretch would have helped)

A bunch of us went over after the track closed and Sumwon was eating a bit more of her grain & hay, got lots of attention and she was VERY happy to get her neck scratched. She had me nearly pinned to wall while I was scratching her. What a cutie. Darren's wife got lots of pictures.

PSH - I'm in absolute love with your horse. He's got so much character. He loves to have his lips played with and then he'll suddenly stop and look at you all serious like your the big goofball. I hope he does well for you!
