Default Alabama!

OK peeps! Who can beat SONGBIRD and why? See you Saturday. The 4starD is a great matchup. Thoughts?

Half the field. She's good, but not great like many people proclaim. She's run one fast race. She's beat one good horse. Taking her at 1-9 going the longest she ever has, with other speed signed on seems silly.

She's very reminiscent to me in a way, of Careless Jewel coming into the Alabama in 2009. We know how that turned out. I'd add a couple if there is room on the ticket to try to beat her, but standing against seems silly*.

*Full Disclosure - I left Careless Jewel off for the exact sames reasons you don't like Songbird in here - take it from experience, Joe

She reminds me of Plum Pretty. Plum Pretty was better though.

I was more comparing the circumstances than the horse-

1. Careless Jewel's competition leading up to the race was not stellar (though no argument Songbird is much more accomplished).
2. She was all front end.
3. She did not have a 10 panel pedigree.

She not only relished the extra distance, but improved 4 lengths in the stretch run. I can see the same scenario tomorrow.

At this point I'm using Family Tree and Going for Broke with her as both can shade a wicked early pace and not lose touch. Family Tree looks like she could be sitting on a big move up in class. I think Go Maggie Go is going to be a pace victim.
