Though checking in 7th, we got a very encouraging dirt run by MINIT MAUS Friday turning in a 51 Beyer, by far her best performance on a main track. Eric Cancel said she was unsure of the footing out of the gate but began to take hold of the ground by the half mile pole as she commenced a rally.

Having come out of 2 routes, it wasn't a surprise that the sprint field left her behind and she trailed early by 14 lengths. She made up 6 of those lengths in the final quarter with only the winner coming home faster.

The effort should sharpen Maus up for her next start and note too that this was open company. The winner received a very healthy 70 Beyer. Thursday, Gary won a NY bred N1X ALW at 7f with Mike Henning's Alvernia who earned a 55 Beyer. That's the race Maus will point for when it comes up next in the condition book and it's clear from Friday's try that she's capable on the main track.

She continues to grow/mature and looked terrific (as seen above).
