Default Bay Meadows closing day; oddities

Thinking of getting out in the rain to go see a few horses on the closing day of Bay Meadows.

With four turf races scheduled, probably very few horses.

Glancing at the entries, I note nary a Hollendorfer horse. Maybe it's happened before, but I can't recall a day that Hollendorfer hasn't had a horse going.

Also note that Russell Baze will take a break and not have a scheduled mount in the 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th. But he is scheduled to ride in the 9th.

I guess Jerry and Russell are going to let some other folks have some success today. Either that, or they're gonna be stuffing the raffle jar to win one of the plasma TV's being given away....

If Russell's not riding, expect another big day from Joel Rosario... last time Russell was away for the day Rosario won a majority of the races... some went off at decent odds, too.

DerbyCat, thanks for the reminder.

Russell will be there today, but at this point doesn't have mounts in four or five races.

BTW, the weather has unexpectedly cleared, at least in my part of the Bay. Rain was forecast for all day, but at present we have blue skies and sunshine.

I'm looking at the PP's right now... I hope the fields stay fairly full and we don't have a lot of scratches... the past few days have been horrible - nothing worse than playing P3's for $8 and having it pay $7.60 - d*mn chalk

Correcting myself, I do see Hollendorfer has a horse in the 2nd race.

Amazing how much better one sees after first waking up.

If a horse doesn't have Baze, Rosario, or maybe Ochoa...they probably won't win

I would add in Schvaneveldt to your list, he's been winning 20% of his races, and Contreras rides for Miyadi and they win 35% of their races together... but it is true that you can frequently bet the jockeys (or trainers) at Bay Meadows and do well...

It must be close to 35% win rate when he rides for Brian Koriner.
Koriner + Schvaneveldt = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
