no offense Jimmy, keep doing whatever works and at the Meadowlands that 1 or 2 thing just may be the best. So,keep moving up the ladder there-good luck

What a disappointment. Today was set up to send a bunch of people home on the final day before the shoe. Then again came the scratches so it was pretty hard to get disqualified today with 2 races with 4 entrants each. Ugh. I hate the extra shoe, it just guarantees that it's not really a survivor game but a who can score one or two lucky plays game. In fact, I wish there were no shoes at all. Oh well, as always, can't complain it's a free game.

fell 8 spots to #20. Need to make up $56.40 to catch the leader. Gonna need some big fields and bigger longshots.

Arletta, are you sure? The only way you could have lost your shoe is if you didn't pick or picked the following horses:

Race 4
Beautiful life, shaker up, waddup, our aunt adeline

Race 6
Raynicks fan

Race 8
Twice as beautiful.

THe rest of the horses either scratched or finished in the top 3.

Oh! I don't know, but just saw when I looked that none were in the top 3... Never looked to see if they all scratched!

When playing in survival contests with lifelines my strategy has been to get to the end of the lifelines with the most I can assemble and then fire away.
Hopefully, in November, the races chosen will be a bit more contentious.

That's a good strategy and the same one I will be using this year. Last year I ended the game with all my lifelines -- not good and I finished in 15th. That's sort of like keeping all your timeouts -- they are useless if you don't use them. The only thing is, you can fall further and further behind going for longshots if they don't come in. In fact, just using a shoe means you didn't get any points that day. If your longshot never comes in, you either run out of shoes or you don't win the tiebreaker. That's what I don't like about it -- It's not really about who you think will finish in the money -- it's about who you think will finish in the money most of the time, with a few lucky bombs thrown in for tiebreakers. If I don't get a longshot to come in at this rate I'm projected to finish around 300th. If there were no shoes it would all be about picking winners, in fact that could be the tie breaker if necessary. Still a fun game though, I'm grateful for the complimentary opportunity.
