Andromeda's Hero was the only one who even finished in the same time zone as Alex.

oops, Scrappy T was in the Preakness, thats right.

Not trying to argue it wasnt a pitifully bad field, but to call the 2006 Belmont much better isnt really accurate. Bob & John, LOL! Claim to fame is winning a weak rendition of the Wood Memorial over a muddy surface.

I think there were 2 outstanding 3 year olds last year and I dont have to mention there names. The rest were just mediocre, but thats just my opinion.

Afleet Alex could have beaten many, many horses when he won the Preakness and Belmont. Both performances were devestatingly awesome, so to me holding the competiton against him is silly. I think we all know he would have won the Derby with a slightly better trip.

If you like to start sht about Grade 1 winners, then you are an A Hole. That is simply a given. Most owners can only dream about owning one.It was one thing to talk sht about this horse before he won a Grade 1,but to keep doing it after that?.. A-Hole.I don't care if he never wins again. You are an A Hole, and that will be true about anybody else that chooses to talk sht about a Grade 1 Winner.

Jazil is not in the same league as Afleet Alex was as 3 yr olds. No one is arguing that. I am just saying give Jazil a chance to prove himself as a four year old. And honestly how can you call him overrated when no one is calling him a GREAT. We are just saying he is a decent horse.

And my horse beat him this weekend. hee hee. Yes, it was by a head, but he still finished ahead of him.

Basically this is what we are saying Jazil is. A very useful horse who will make his owners some $$$.

Jazil is one of the worst classic winners I've seen in all my years watching the sport (since 1986). I would rank him down there with Commendable, Sarava and Giacomo. I don't see him winning today because he's just not that good but perhaps they've found a weak enough field for him to have a chance. It's a shame that a classic winner will end his career with no other stakes wins on his resume. He's what u call a classic fluke.

Just out of curiousity between Barbaro, Bernardini and Discreet Cat who do you not feel is the outstanding one?

ha,ha, there was a horse named Wholly Smackles?
I'd say Zito put in the top performance trainer-wise on the Triple Crown nominations without having the Big Horse of the year.

A few of these raced recently:
Saint Anddan
Noble C
Angliana
Tice

I guess if anything it shows the casualties of the Triple Crown Trail and/or how little a decent win late in the 2nd year or early in the 3rd really means.

Wholly Smackles....

I'm just going back and looking at the title of this thread, and I had to laugh. The most overrated horse in the HISTORY of horse racing?

Is he retiring after today? If not then how would you know he's never going to win another stakes race? That seems to be a pretty bold statement. If he wins today that doesn't say a whole lot about his resume, but now we're not even giving the horse a chance after what, nine career starts?
