Please. Durkin had to call the '90 Distaff--talk about having to deal with emotion. Get some perspective. It is no tragedy to lose a race.

When the horse you are shilling loses, just deal with it like a pro. His "Baaah-layyy-mmmmm!" call is a never ending source of amusement with me and my friends whenever it comes up. Pathetic.

Oh! That is my favorite race call of all time!!! Huge fan of both so I was ecstatic when Bullish Luck won.

The stable mates are together again at Living Legends and hey... if anyone goes to hk pleeeease get me one of these...

(Let this be a warning.. if you bring up the glory days of HK I will NOT shut up)!

Sorry. Carry on!

Well, you were right in that we both need our heads examined. No question there.

This was tweeted by Mark Hennig of Tom Durkin on the Match Game in 1979. It is kind of funny what word trips up Durkin at the end.

Here was a fun little story I did asking a bunch of announcers their favorite Tom Durkin calls/memories. Some cool stories!

Many years back, I met Tom Durkin and said two words : Speedy Gonzales.

His response was classic. Tom said, "Everyone knows the right answer is Pancho Gonzales".

We both laughed and everyone else was dumb-founded.

That hilarious. Here's Part One of his Match Game. He comes across as so sweet and nervous!

I still can't believe Durkin is leaving...and like others said he us unreplaceable..im pretty sure that Durkin will not call his final race on Sunday...would hope and think he is the kinda guy who might appear somewhere down the road...what was the reason for leaving anyway? Just a " its time " thing right?

He's been doing this for what, 30 years? He's got to be exhausted. That is not an easy job. Didn't he stop doing the TC races for NBC a few years back because the anxiety got to be too much?

He said in an interview---on TVG I believe---that normally when December rolls around he is ready for his vacation, and as his vacation winds down that he is raring to go for another season. This year at the end of his winter vacation he just wasn't as excited as he usually is and felt that if he were to go until the end of his contract (2015) that it would probably have been a year too late.

Hate to see him go, but the fans gave him a great sendoff.

And his farewell speech was terrific, too.

Absolutely terrific sendoff. Kudos to everyone involved. The man was truly one of a kind and you can't say that about many people.

LOL I noticed the "Your The Man" thing too. Fail.
