She might be better than Proud Spell.

And my take from the Acorn was more a negative on Indian Blessing (and the other two fillies that didn't show up) than a positive on Zaftig.
Of course she'll run.

She didn't look dead on the turn to me. I bet her, and was watching the race with Mike Lakow, and said to him on the turn that she looked like she would win by the length of the stretch.

Music Note should fear Zaftig....not the other way around. As for Proud Spell, that's another question, but what better spot can you think of for Zaftig to take on the division leader than a one turn mile and an eighth at Belmont?

I agree that a 9F at Belmont is the optimal spot for Zaftig to take on the division leaders; I guess I just don't hold her in as high regard as some of the others on here.

Of the up-and-comers in the 3YO filly division, I tend to have a higher opinion of Acoma, the Empire Maker half-sister to Arch that won the Dogwood last weekend. While it would be a big step up in class (depending on who showed up), with her pedigree, I'd think the CCA Oaks or the Alabama would be the spot to which to point Acoma.

Acoma could easily come for the Mother Goose but more likely the CCA Oaks.

I liked her last week, and she's improving, but she has a ways to go and got a great set up in the Dogwood.

To Whom it may Concern:

I deleted my statement about Piazza De Spagna. I honestly didn't realize I had trainers confused when I made the post. I've made a stupid comment and my apologies to Sciacca and his connections.

OOOOOOOOOO

Piazza was due to get the right field and Gary and Co. were very confident early in the week that he was ready to fire. He is a well-balanced, smallish horse that is quite nice looking and exceedingly pleasant to be around. Congratulations especially go out to his groom, (and part-time Carolina Barbecutie), Rosemary, who adores him, and was over the moon to win on Belmont Day.

As for shenanigans? That's pretty funny... Gary didn't pick up our Saturday night tab for 8 at King Umberto's, so there certainly wasn't any betting coup...

And believe me, the Round One appreciates haute cuisine.. We had an unbelievable meal Thursday at the Northern Blvd. version of Il Mulino, (and thanks go out to PGiaco's Uncle Joe for that)... and he was with Flay at Mesa Grill Friday.

Actually... he lost 40 pounds while off on vacation thanks to daily gym trips. He has put it back on since though. He's threatening to get back to a regimen this summer, but it's tough when he holding court at the Captain's Table at my joint in the backyard...

Funny how he puts on weight at the BBQ while complaining about the food.
As far as good hair days.....you need hair to have one!

I hated him at that price, and it cost me a nice pick 4 (other 3 winners were A's for me), but funny business? Sciacca? What, he fed him some pasta fagioli?
