![]() I'll give credit where credit is due - but first you have to decide whether this victory was a result of Stafford having a horrific day, or you're convinced that a total of 10 first downs and 20 yards of rushing is enough to compete and win in the NFL on a weekly basis.
They are the most penalized team in the NFL and still have no idea how to fix it. Glennon is the real deal so far, they expand the playbook each week and he's responded - two excellent down field throws for large gains, and the bench is deep on both sides of the ball. The team is built to win now, and as I've said before, has playoff caliber talent. Maybe he just needs the entire season to figure it out - who knows? |

![]() and gary kubiak receives the ignominious prize as first nfl coach to be fired this season. even suffering a mini stroke didn't grant him a reprieve.
a qb can kill a coaches career. |

![]() One thing that he absolutely must be commended for is that through all of this adversity, the team has not quit on him. Not of a second.
Unfortunately in every measurement - given the level of talent, the team is woefully under performing - they still lead the league in penalties, and they still struggle to make 2nd half adjustments to close a game out. Buffalo is a bad team. Atlanta is a bad team. Matt Stafford had one of the worse days of his career that attributed to the Detroit win (20 total offensive rushing yds and 10 first downs gets you killed 99.99% of the time - welcome to any given Sunday). This week is his test. He has the 49er's at home. A team that is now fighting for a wildcard. On paper, the two match up well - obviously Glennon is no Kapernick, but Tampa's secondary is better and the D line is beginning to develop something resembling a pass rush. Should be an exciting game to watch - if they play like they belong on the field with them, not necessarily win, but at least look like they can compete - he may well have done enough to redeem himself. If we get the same menu of bone-headed broken coverages, bad personal fouls at inopportune times, procedure penalties, too many men/not enough men on the field, et al, It should be the tipping point I'd imagine. |

Losing Mike Williams early basically put V. Jackson in double coverage all year. On a positive note, the decision by Mark Domenick to not address the TE position in the offseason should have been a nightmare, but the rookie out of Rutgers, Tim Wright has effectively bailed his asz out of a tight spot. The back up RB's (we're on our 3rd stringer) are playing admirably well considering. In fact they may have a bargaining chip to adress the line in the off season, or spread the wealth around next year to keep Martin in one piece for a whole season. They are only a few pieces away from being a top caliber team - not convinced that we can say that about the coaching staff yet. |

With the way their record stands now, they're not going to be in a position to draft a QB in the first round. Hopefully they take Jake Matthews out of A&M with their first pick. |
