i think it's a shame that it's march and horses haven't made their 3 yo debut. but they're supposed to be the top of the crop? based on what? works? a sad state of affairs.

Point taken, but that's a bit hard on Flower Alley wouldn't you say? He was a good 3yo.

If a list had been posted before last weekend's races, Travelin Man would have been near the top of everyone's lists. Just goes to show that you can't get too hyped over potential when it's all maidens and nw1x races.

I think it's all about Uncle Mo. Not a single other 3yo gets me excited in this crop. I too with Kantharos had been able to stick around.

Also, I think for 2007, you've got to include Rags to Riches as one of the top 3yos, considering how she ran stride for stride with Curlin and beat him in the Belmont.

I wouldn't even have included Travelin Man in my top 10 most interesting 3yo prospects list, had I ever wanted to waste my time to compile one.

As for Rags, hell, she could have won the triple crown in some of these recent years, but I was referring strictly to males in my remarks about the last 10 crops.

And you really aren't at least intrigued by Bind?

What about the prospects of an Affirmed and Alydar like triple crown between Uncle Mo and Anthony's Cross?!

I'm not intrigued by any horse anymore that does it only against maidens. Interested to an extent to see what they can do against winners and then against stakes horses but not overly interested.

I'm going to have to talk to Byk about having you banned for mentioning Anthony's Cross in the same post as Uncle Mo in as far as a rivalry.

Dude, think of it!

It wouldn't be a rivalry, it would be an exacta, three times! I wonder if there's ever been a 1-2 finisher in any triple crown race that was sired by the same stallion.

I don't even know who the stallion is so you lost me.

I don't know whether to thank you for giving me such an easy setup, or to scold you for being moronic.

I mean that with the utmost civility in mind.

Chose either course you want. I don't get into breeding. I prefer watching them race and judging them on their own ability, not on anything their mom or dad could or couldn't do. I'm not knocking anyone that is into that part of the game but it does nothing for me.

I'm going to guess the sire is Indian Charlie. I remember that horse. Loved him as a runner. Made money on him in the SA Derby and he was my choice for the Kentucky Derby as well. I just don't care anything about the horses once they retire.

Hope people caught WILBURN on this go 'round. You won't be seeing 7-2 again any time soon... Wow.

I think I said this in another thread, but he took late money and so I figured he'd be the goods; I just didn't figure that he'd run like THAT, lol. I know they think of this guy as a two turn horse (granted, the quote was from last year after the sales), so it will be fun to follow him.

yeah, they are so good they need "special" allowance races in march when theres numerous prep races......there has not been a good crop in 4 years and these horses probably have holes in them if they can't run in a regular race by now or they are not that good. heres a hint....if you can't run in open competition....what are you afraid of? you can't be that good if your afraid of the conditions or the competition......either these horses are weak....which i think they are...or the connections are just turning into chicken shits.......it may be a little of both....in either case anyone that says the game has not been reduced.....yet again......is nuts....the derby trail is turning into a joke...forget turning......it is a joke, i'm waiting for the ......"were going to break our maiden at saratoga....run a prep at (allowance race) GP in march and go to the derby".......great news for racing.
