Who can blame the kid, Danzig.

If you want to be a big-time pro qb, you come to Cali and play some college ball at SC.

It's a no-brainer.

Wouldn't that be a shame.
i agree, but i was totally wrong about zenyatta. they are looking like they will show up for this race and rachel is balking. i really thought it would be the other way around but the way zenyatta finally beat the boys must of given these people alot of confidence.(last year they treated her with kid gloves with that schedule) thats what cost her horse of the year, they didn't travel and face different competition while rachel did. but you are right, QR is living up to what everyone thought he could be and that could spell the end of the "girls rule" era! at 4 years old this horse (QR) is no macho again or bullsbay thats for sure.

Even though they said they retired her, she's been working steadily (mind you very well) since the BC, where Rachael has been off since the Woodward. I don't think they are ducking her, but they aren't going to race her until they're sure she's ready.

LOL, its been months, if they wanted her to be ready she could be.
I beleive anyone who understands this game, knows Rachel is now the third gun.

I'm sure that they had a plan/schedule on bringing Rachael back (if they even intend to). Facing Zenyatta wasn't in those plans because she was supposedly retired. So what was Rachael's camp supposed to do, drop everything and start drilling the day after Zenyatta's camp announced that she wasn't retiring? I guess if they really wanted her to race at Oaklawn, they could probably have her ready. But that being said, why should they scrap/rush their schedule to race a horse who didn't want to leave California to race Rachael while she was in a peak form.
Maybe I don't understand the game and Rachael is indeed now the third gun. If that is the case, I'm trying to figure out who told you.

Pretty safe to say that the Met Mile won't be on RA's schedule either.

you did the math on how much each horse ran last year, right? rachel didn't have a break from the time she started at two until after the woodward.

Well...they didn't want her ready so why should she be? As mentioned, Z's camp was deceitful at best and lied at worst, but..that's their right so it doesn't matter. I really have tried to appreciate Z and RA for what they are..great stories and great horses, but saying that RA is now a third wheel because QR ran a huge race against so-so horses on a track built for him is almost as precious as your Peyton Manning thread. Stop ranking them until they are all in mid season shape.

i don't think its ducking, but why did they give her so much time before training again? regaurdless of what other horses do. i understand the horse needed a rest but after all these months and as hard as she did race last year. it will be interesting to see if shes even the same horse this year.

I'm guessing that they have a limited schedule planned for her this year and Oaklawn (Apple Blossom) was never in the equation. Not sure what they are targeting, but I'm sure that they will take their time getting her ready for whatever it is. But would anyone really be suprised if she didn''t make it back to the track? Unfortunately that's a possibilty too.

Aren't they just trying to get her back up to speed and healthy and assuming all goes well the chips (races) will come as she goes. It's not a machine and weather and her health does matter on timing. She will be back when she is ready. Hopefully she races 6 times May thru Nov. I would think that is the best case

I agree Freddy, I'm not questioning their timing or the way they are working her back. But I do think that they have a few ideas/races where they might end up.

as a handicapper i was thinking the same thing. she may not race again but they are training her and it all sounds good. but, i also think the water will be deeper this year. face it, the horse has a big target on its back and theres a couple horses that look like they are already cranked up and ready to go. (zenyatta, musket man and quality road) i know the "lengend" status she carries on this forum but this will be a tough comeback when it comes to beating these horses. i look at it this way, the field she beat in the woodward was no better than the field that quality road just dismantled. her preakness was great so was the haskell, but anyone that thinks some of her form was not dressed up is not in reality. i try not to get emotional about these things, it costs money. it looks like if all the players stay healthy we will have a great handicap division this year. thank goodness, because i'm tired of the 3 year olds dominating the sport.
