i thought i put that curlin would win if big brown lost the classic... i don't think he would win if big brown won the classic, but curlin still has more racing to do-and unlike big brown, curlin hasn't got an unexplained last place finish-and curlin is ranked the #1 horse in the world....
i'm not giving up all hope at this point for a curlin/big brown showdown. would certainly take care of the debate.
but after today, even before todays finish, i felt zenyattas only chance at hoy is to try the classic--and i really like her too. just don't think she'd get the votes over the other two.

Oh I think she would get the votes if neither BB or Curlin win the classic and she wins the distaff. Hell the field in the Distaff will probably be stronger than in the Classic

true, altho proud spell won't be there. wonder if ginger punch makes the trip, i don't recall if she's ever run on an AWT.
but how much attention from most voters will the distaff draw?

And Big Brown still doesn't make your list of Top 5 horses this year?

Now if he showed up for the JCGC, Belmont probably would get 25K for the Curlin-BB matchup.

Nobody cares about Big Brown? Really? They got 17,000 plus. I told you they'd have north of 10,000. Why do you think the fans came out, just like they have in all of Big Brown's races? He is a very popular horse.

Did he beat one of the horses that I have ahead of him and I missed it? I'm much more impressed with him now than I was earlier in the day. He finally faced and beat some real horses. But I still don't think he's better than those I have listed. Just a matter of opinion. Perhaps he pushes Indian Blessing and Ginger Punch off but I still don't have him over Curlin, Heatseeker, Commentator, Zenyatta, and Proud Spell.

None of then have beat or match the record of this year's FL Derby, KY Derby, Preakness, or Haskell = all Grade 1 Stakes.

Proud Spell was not better than the late Eight Bells. That's she wasn't entered in the Derby. Big Brown beat Eight Bells by five at the wire,

roller doc, you're taking a lot of people to task who have a lot more knowledge and have followed this sport a hell of a lot longer than you have. you're pretty presumptuous to think you can tell most of the people on this board anything-i can't believe that someone with your admitted lack of experience feels that you have the wherewithal to dress down some of the people here. it's absurd. i'd say most here have seen horses with big browns talent before, as well as plenty of horses over the years' with far more talent than him. it seems to be the general consensus on this board that big brown is indeed the top 3 yo male this year. maybe you could live with that, and get over it already.

RollerDoc
, sincere kudos to you on your Big Brown passion here.

You've faced board adversity, and today you were absolutely frickin' right.

Not only did Big Brown just win today, he looked of class, strength and regalism from the paddock to the Winner's Circle.

That's like telling ESPN to remove mention of Big Brown's win from the ticker tonight. Not gonna happen. Shouldn't happen.

hey, i'm glad they put it up there-it's horse racing news. now if they start putting up results from cheerleading competition...well, that's another story.

this guys like a dog with a freaking bone, who here hasn't given that damn horse props? i don't think RD would be content unless big browns statue got put up in place of man o wars at the kentucky horse park.

He's picked a horse as his favorite and is having fun in the process. Not every racing fan sets out to be a historian of the game and/or the greatest handicapper evar!

There you go again with your old school attitude. Just because you attended the Man O War ribbon cutting ceremony, you are offended by a good horse that I support in 2008.

I'm taking nobody to task. I'm just addressing all of the posts from earlier that are opposite of mine. Because of my brief time here, doesn't preclude me from voicing an opinion with any poster I have regardless of who it is. When did this Board become a Country Club. If it is and I have misunderstood, then kick me out if it makes you feel good.

I think the Doc was right in this case. Crowd was much higher i hear.

If Big Brown loses this race, this thread would be 20 pages long with people calling him a fraud.

A little gloating by his biggest fans surely shouldnt ruffle any feathers.

His detractors should be very excited that he won. Price goes down to less than 2-1 now in the classic.

BB looked really good. Did they put him back on steroids? not that there is anything wrong with that

The attendance was 17,047. A week earlier, for a card that did not include Big Brown, Monmouth drew 2,587.
