In Week 5 we lost at slightly worse than the track take. 219 picks were made, so that's $1314 in bets. We collected $1067.30, for a net loss of -18.8%.

The good news (sort of) is that I made a mistake back in Week 1. We're doing a little better than I thought. I over-counted the number of picks in Week 1 by 9. I'll try to go back and add a correction to those earlier posts, but the totals below should be correct through Week 5:

Through the first 13 races of the contest:
# of picks: 743
Amount bet: $4458
Amount won: $3706
% return: -16.9%

13 Derby Trail cappers are still showing an overall profit.

Sorry about the error earlier!

Actually, there are 3 additional contest entrants who are showing an overall profit after Week 5. I missed them because they all had "no picks" for some races. One of them hasn't picked since Week 2.

I'll have to rephrase my previous statement to this: "The top 13 in the Contest are showing an overall profit."
