Medina sustains broken collarbone Apprentice jockey Jesiere Medina sustained a broken collarbone and is expected to miss about two months as a result of being thrown from her mount, Paddy's Double H, in Saturday's ninth race. Paddy's Double H had to be euthanized after suffering an apparent heart attack in the stretch of the nightcap. was this one of the two you were refering to?

![]() I do wish we were more like Japan in the sense that the public has a greater knowlege of the horses' health. Seems to be more transparency.

Synthetics are no more or less dangerous than dirt. If the dirt tracks were repaired from the ground up, they would have been much safer than the old, worn out 100 year old dirt tracks. That is just common sense. Racing thought they were buying an easy fix, but they found out it isn't true. Some people profited off of the fears of others...what else is new? |

![]() Why no talk about the 6 horses that died in Pamona in 2 weeks and the who know's how many that were pulled up and hauled off? , Why no talk about the horses that breakdown every night at Los Al , or every other race track in America?

Here's the only way I can respond to this, as I just don't agree with the 'conventional' way of doing things. There's ZERO chance that Lethal Heat wires the field. She's shown that she'll collapse late in many of her races. And, the only way to keep any other horse in the race is by giving it a perfect setup, like the winner got. With the rail and enough speed to be able to easily sit behind cheap speed like LH, all Gomez has to do is STALK. By doing so, he ensures that he wins the race and takes everything else out the race. All he has to do is sit just behind LH and make ONE BID mid stretch. Instead, he has LH on his butt the entire race, with Bold Chieftain getting a perfect trip, and has to really get into Grazen when LH comes after him on the turn. So, rather than running from midstretch to the wire, Grazen has to be driven from the turn to the wire. Obviously, he probably wins the race as it was run if the horse doesn't break down but WHY not win it in an easier fashion with much less pressure on the horse? If Gomez were doing the work, he'd ride the way I described. But since the horse is doing the work he really doesn't care how he rides him; or breaks him down. Just my opinion. ![]() Turf Paradise has a dirt track and a new Turf course. season started last week and goes till May 2nd. They had over 3,000 stall applications for 1800stalls. Best days to bet is Monday Tuesday when the pools are 2-3 million dollars. Great weather and racing. Its a small track, but puts out a good product.

![]() It's funny reading this argument. The part that's funniest is when it's said that the track crews in CA just haven't learned how to properly maintain the tracks. In addition to be touted as able to cut down on injuries, the tracks were also sold as needing no maintenance.
