LOL hard to splain and probably anthropomorphsizing (sp) but Sumwon is sort of like a (Mrs.) Ed mostly because she was such a ham when it came to photographs - the weird part is friends were just asking about her yesterday (who can forget a horse with a name like that? ) and had given them the news she was retired and in foal, now have this interesting detail to add to the story - hope the rest of the pregnancy is relatively uneventful lol

Saw Nathan Fox at the big Rally in Frankfort this morning and he said that Sumwon was pregnant and doing well. She should be ready to ship to NY in 10 to 14 days.

EDIT...That's kind of harsh on my part...Let's just say that with all the special fees and deductions from purse accounts, the seperate set of silk rules that are different from every other state and the less than user friendly licensing offices, it wouldn't be my first choice to race unless I lived there.

I bred Notorious Girl to Sunriver and Iam perplexed where to drop the foal. Pa. has a great program but NY stallion dropping in NY is very enticing.

Freddy if you are going to breed to a NY stallion why would you think of dropping anywhere else? And please tell me you didn't pay the full boat...

Paid half advertised I think it was 6250. Pa breds sell for a ton of money at the 2 year old sales

Needed a St Ballado(Sunriver) stallion. Werk nicks A+ with the mare. There aren't a lot of them. The concept was IF the Straight Man foal did well and IF the Sunriver's get off to a good start, we could do OK. Plus our mare (at least it was ours till she became mine) is really big and heavy boned I wanted to breed her to something a bit more balanced and not as huge. Confirmation wise Sunriver is pretty correct. Obviously he wasn't a "Steve" star but he was ok.

The Straight Man foal is really pretty straight and has a great hip on her. Would have sent her back to him but Florida was a schlep. Plus shipping the foal from Pa to Fl. at 21 days was too much travel.

Freddy, I agree with Chuck, its best to drop the foal of a NY stallion in NY. The 20% breeder award is a nice bonus whether you own the foal or not. I know you don't want to hear this but eventually there will be slots at Aqueduct and those purses and awards will be even better.

Of course I want slots at Aqueduct.lol I am going to race in NY why wouldnt I want slots? Just Kidding!!! Actually the chances that there are slots at Aqueduct before 2014 are nil. The process is in disarray, the government is disarray, the track(slot area) is in disarray, the economy in the Tri state area sucks, and other then that everything is PREFECT.

Not sure if you realizze just how horrible the Pa. stock currently is. Winning BSF's at PID for 40k mdn spls are in the 40's or low 50's. Pa. breds that look fast sell for 25k at two year old in training sales. DrugS and I have won starting in a few weeks she should be odds on in such a race and in NY she may have to run for 20 MDN CLM.

The PA bred stock is probably going to improve pretty quickly with the money they are giving out now. By the time your foal is dropped and ready to run I will bet Beyers of 50 will not be winning PA bred Md Specials. The NY breds will bring money at the sales too if they look good. I sold a NY bred Aptitude yearling colt who I forgot to make Breeders Cup eligible for $120k (and the mare wasn't a stakes horse by any means). You probably couldn't go wrong either way. One word of advice is to make sure you make the foal eligible for the NY Stallion series. Some of those races really come up weak and a muskrat could win a pretty fair pot.
By the way, I'm shocked you would have such a pessimistic view of our wonderful state's government.

I HAVE A GREAT IDEA FOR THE ORIGINAL DT MEMBERS. WHEN THE FOAL DROPS, EVERY MEMBER WILL GET TO TAKE SUMWON TO THEIR HOUSE FOR 1 WEEKEND AT A TIME. A PET FOR LIFE. I HAVE A NICE BACKYARD FOR HER
