well the quarter crack may not be as bad... but missing training time and having that soreness... we'll see... but if he runs I'd use him at your own risk! (I wont be using him now and am prepared to eat crow)

If he runs, it means they will have to have a more fair track than the Gulf was. Churchill won't provide the sheet rock ( they don't want QR breaking down on National T.V.)

you would hope that they would do that anyway.... I mean after the big breakdowns there (8 bells, pine island).

But I wouldnt expect Churchill to actually learn anything from those experiences.

They planned to work him twice before the Derby, so as long as he gets those two works in and regular gallops, I don't see where he's that short.

I don't know what I'll do with him. He was going to be my pick, but I will really have to be convinced that all is well. If I leave off and he wins, I'll never forget it. On the other hand if I bet him and he flops, that will feel just as bad. Everyone remembers Big Brown's dismal effort, but I also remember well when Touch Gold ended Silver Charm's Triple Crown bid.

no i am not a trainer

you already know that

but the horse is behind , ask any of the trainers on here , this is common fact

beyer , andy , crist can analyse all the numbers from know until the cows come home and they are all very good at it , but , as far as preperation for a 10f race the horse is behind , the numbers are the numbers, but they don't tell the whole story

i'm never right about anything here because you drink the kool-aid that others around here provide and you will never give me an objective look

I hope Jimmy Jerkens isn't reading this forum and decides to pull-back as per Gales request and input.

Hoss you are a smart guy go back and look at some of my posts and see who responds to me on certain topics , sometimes you are not far behind with a comment of your own after you have had a sip of the kool aid

(some of these topics may already have been taking down by the mods though)

So why should this be any different? Common fact? You can't seperate heresay from fact.

If the plan was for 2 works before the Derby, and he works Friday or Saturday like was reported, that means it's 3 full weeks until the race. How is that behind? If he quarter crack doesn't allow him to make the Derby, well it is what it is. But he won't not run in the race because he worked Friday and not Wednesday like you think he should have.
Shut Up.

We all know what toll a triple crown run can take on a top quailty young horse when they are 100% , and when they run a ouchy horse in the Derby it just seems to take it out of them. Next stop is down the latter to find the winners circle.

I love how many trainers and vets have come out of the woodwork on this board since an article was run about Quality Road having a quarter crack.

A quarter crack like any other affliction had by a horse, goat, human, or mouse, is specific to that being. Some are bad, some are not so bad. It's all situational.

One thing can be certain and that's that James Jerkens is not going to run his horse unless he's 100% and he has the best hoof guy working on him. That all seems pretty simple.
