I will also say that I wouldn't have a problem with a black President or VP. I think that Condi Rice could be an excellent runing mate for Mccain. But as far as Oboma goes I just don't think he has any substance, or maybe he is saving all the details for late in the game. But it seemed to me that John Kerry had more detailed plans and he still ended up with the short end of the stick.

I think he knows, just like all candidates, that being realistic doesnt get you elected. Being "realistic" would require him to say "look, its going to take us at least four years to get us out of this mess that our economy is in". Certainly not inspiring. |

Part of McCain's problem is that he is being too honest about Iraq. Anyone with a brain knows that Obama cant get those troops out that quickly. |

Communicated tonite better than anyone has in about 12 years. The simplicity of these 6 statements is fantastic. It's exactly the simple communication that works. He simply wasn't this good in the debates. It was a bit long, but it was a terrific speech. Don't kid yourself, if they saw it, people of all political leanings know how good it was. He was really "on" tonite. Anybody who was even considering voting for him is gunna be leaning toward voting for him. People love a confident leader with conviction, and that was there tonite. I didn't realize he could be that good. Time to unleash that guy for more than 1 nite. He's gunna have to keep being that good. Somebody said he was gunna step up like that tonite. "90% like Bush = a 10% chance of change" "You are on your own" "I will cut taxes on 95% of all working families." " If John McCaine wants to debate the ability to lead etc.." "Won't even follow him to the cave where he lives" "So, I got news for you, John McCaine........." Last edited by SCUDSBROTHER : 08-29-2008 at 04:02 AM. |

That's why it isn't possible. You know that, you make it impossible, and then you claim he is the one who can't do it. It's mainly a leadership position. I don't blame Bush for not being able to privatize Social Security. HE DIDN'T HAVE THE VOTES TO DO IT. Not like he didn't want to do it. He didn't fail to do it. He was kept from doing it. |

equal pay for equal work sounds wonderful...problem is, everyone thinks they work hard, when in fact many don't. then there's experience levels...in other words, many reasons why people make what they do. our free market takes care of itself, and needs in many cases less intervention rather than more from the govt. new programs cost new money-where will he find that. i'd love to have a leader come in and promise to be better caretakers of our wealth, and to make an immediate and lasting attempt to cut all the fraud, waste and abuse we have nationwide. hospitals in cali (for example) were taking in homeless folks, saying they had diseases they didn't have, 'running tests', etc, and billing the dogmess out of medicaid, medical....we're talking hundreds of millions of dollars in those instances alone. that's outrageous. cut the waste, and we'd have more money for legitimate needs. the pork needs to go, the line item veto needs to be instituted. robert byrd doesn't need any more buildings named after him, he has plenty in west va for his legacy. more teachers with higher salaries...wonderful. i saw that one of the districts here in ark gets over '$5k per student each year to teach them. that's an obscene amount of money. and we have smaller classes than in years' past, and more teachers' aides to help with less per class. ridiculous. and we don't have the grades/act scores to show that our public school system is working, even with all the additional staff to teach our kids. exactly how is he going to give tax cuts to all, and boost spending? just what we need, more govt. that's my #1 issue with democrats, too much revenue redistribution. take from the haves, give to the havenots. pretty soon more haves will be joining the latter group. the have nots want what i have ? do like me and my husband, get your ass to work like we do, and you'll have it too.

brooks and dunn... it was a rediculously great speech. Geez listening to that after hearing 8 years of dumbass bush.. makes you fall in love with Obama. The question is... will he really do what he said he would or is it a bunch of rhetoric? This will be a fun election.. looking forward to McCain next week and future debates. I may have to open my mind a little after that! (still dont think I can vote for a dem though) |
