Precisely.

People maybe are forgetting they are rednecks because they are wealthy.

Seriously, screw these guys. I understand wanting to milk your cash cow, but have a little perspective. Owners pour tons of money into this industry with a terrible ROI praying to get a horse that popular. Trainers and barnhands work insane hours to get these animals fit enough to fill our racecards. Bettors and fans put their hard-earned cash through the windows to make the Triple Crown as big of a deal as it is. We all, in some way, keep the game alive so a bunch of craven rednecks like you can come along and get insanely lucky and make millions of dollars and invaluable exposure off a dirt cheap stallion and broodmare. At some point, the horse has to belong to the sport as much as it belongs to you. Most owners who end up with special horses are grateful enough to understand this. These self-centered cranks have proven beyond a doubt they are not.

Would have been the most spectacular moment in recent TV history if he would have actually back-handed his wife when she was poking him during his post-Belmont interview. Not saying it would have been right, but he wasn't that far off, and it would have been part of TV lore for 50 years.

Personally I think they can ask for what they want.
What's worse them asking for a 50k appearance fee or King Leatherbury asking for someone to put up his $100k to run in the Breeders Cup?

You're kidding right? King wants to run a horse after getting the money. They want $50K to show their horse for a few minutes and thousands for themselves to sit in a tent and sign. Who would want their autographs after this attitude God only knows. If they wanted an appearance fee to come to Del Mar to run in a race, it'd be par for the course for horses at a certain level. Wooing with a bonus happens on occasion if a track is really interested in making it happen. If you don't want to parade your horse, say no and shut your piehole. Either it's too taxing or it isn't. $50K doesn't make it any easier on the horse, just on their pocket books. They've shown their true colors long ago. I don't see how anybody can give them the benefit of the doubt now. There was no recent loss of the Belmont to blame for the thought out statement made by Perry Martin.

Poor Art Sherman having to put up with these fools. People loved the story in the beginning, but they're a lot closer in temperament to owners we've wished would go away. It's a shame.

Here's Bobby Flay's comment on the situation: http://www.paulickreport.com/news/th...ent-1483614937

they are not, nor will ever be wealthy. they might have a little money now, but wealthy is what the Vanderbilts, Whitneys, Phipps" are. do not confuse money with wealth.

Yep, lots of rednecks with money and no class, these guys are two of them. Disgrace to the sport, they just are. The behavior since the Belmont loss is deplorable. Either go to Delmar or don't but shut your trap.

CC owner's thoughts and sentiments are fine and valid, but these are things you just don't blurt out in public. If they had a problem with Del Mar they should of taken it up with them privately, before going off again. This is part of the attitude that got him so popular in the first place, now its turning against him, making him look ungrateful and petty.

I have the ability to separate the horse from the owners............hard not to admire the horse AND the trainer. It's just a shame (and a lesson) that the owners don't seem to get it. Fine, you want a couple of bucks to drive the horse down, I'm sure something could have been discussed behind closed doors to settle things (Flay had it right). No, I can't imagine what it would be like to have had the highs and lows associated with Chrome. But I have to believe I would have been much more thankful and appreciative of the ride. I shudder to think what we would have been subjected to if Chrome had pulled it off. Adversity reveals character and it is apparent these guys have to reach up to get to the gutter. Since the horse can't talk we are subjected to the owners being the mouthpiece, which makes it awfully hard to root for Chrome. You can bet that if CC crushes in the Goodwood and makes it to the Breeders Cup we are going to be subjected to media overload regarding Coburn. We'll see if he's learned anything............or it could get real ugly! The story should be the horse and his accomplishments, he couldn't pick who his owners were going to be. Safe travels CC.

Now Flay is in the mix.

I forgot to address this...

The owner said he was a racehorse. Well since he likes talking so much head...why is this "racehorse" scheduled for just 2 more races this year excluding the hilarious Japan Cup?

These guys were thrown into the spotlight and they are OBVIOUSLY ill-prepared for the attention. They need to step back and let the horse do their talking for them.

You knew what I meant by wealthy.
