what kills me is the whole What could have been scenerio. What would we be looking at if Discreet Cat was never sold after his win in Saratoga last year. A KY Derby Winner? A winner of any of the TC races?
A Travers winner? Are his former owners kicking themselves or enjoying their big pay day? We'll never know!!!!!!!!

Considering he has always been a very sore going horse I highly doubt there is any scenerio that had him running in a lot of races.

From what I've heard, Mrs. Robsham and Stan Hough have apparently NO REGRETS AT ALL about selling him.. What they have is several million dollars to remember him by...

Not to mention distance challenged. Not discrediting Discreet Cat's performance there but I need more, he COULD be any kind.

Is it just me or do a lot of these Forestry colts have soundness (especially general soreness) issues?

most who get offers take them, or should, and the odds are with them!! i'd have to think long and hard if i ever had a diamond in the rough that ran well, and produced some legit, and lucrative offers....never know what a horse will or won't do next.

Yes they do and it's because of Storm Cat IMO.

I'm sure they are, a few millions dollars would ease anyones mind but still in the back of their minds they have to be thinking, even just a little bit "Hmm could we have been in the winner's circle that first saturday in May?"

I'd say that there are only four dirt horses in the world that could be any kind of threat to Discreet Cat and two of them are not in training currently. The four? Bernardini, Surf Cat, Lava Man, and (hold the laughter please) Your Tent or Mine.

Yeah, you have to be a pretty good horse to finish between a couple of monsters like Brother Derek and Bob and John.

NEVERMIND FRANKEL GOT SCARED TOOO

Discreet Cat appears to be scaring most of the top 3-year-old milers away from the Oct. 1 Jerome Handicap (gr. II). Bobby Frankel, trainer of the improving Latent Heat, said he's considering the about seven-furlong Perryville Stakes (gr. III) for the colt's next start. Frankel also is high on On Board Again, who came again to defeat Superfly by a neck in a mile allowance race run in 1:35 flat on Saturday.

I know...tell me about it. I'm sure he's a nice guy, and he did a wonderful job with GZ, but I will never forgive him for not telling the public just how sore Empire Maker was a few days before the Derby. He also did the exact same thing to us with Leroidesanimaux in the BC mile. I wouldn't have bet the horse if he would have told us (yes, I lost money on him).

With that being said, I'd be scared to run my horses against DC too. You'd be running for second. There is no telling just how talented that colt is. Why, he may even be scarier than that monster Bernardini!

On Monday, Discreet Cat completed preparations for Saturday's Jerome by working five furlongs in 59.67 seconds over Belmont Park's main track. It was the fastest of 25 moves at the distance. Under regular rider Garrett Gomez, Discreet Cat went his first three furlongs in 36 seconds, and galloped out six furlongs in 1:12.40
