That Eoin Harty winner at GG was a glaring opportunity for tourney players. Why else would he send that horse up there?

Day 1 leader sets NHC record
By Dave Tuley

http://www.drf.com/news/article/110475.html

LAS VEGAS - Brian Troop set the record for most single-day points in Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship history at the Red Rock Resort Friday, but he wasn't happy.

"I haven't won anything yet," the 61-year-old accountant from Barrie, Ontario, said. "It's ironic that I did this in the first year where they didn't have a Day 1 prize.

"But I do like my position."

The winner of the two-day National Handicapping Championship that concludes Saturday earns $500,000, from a purse of $947,850, and the title of Handicapper of the Year. Players make 15 mythical $2 win-and-place wagers each day, with eight mandatory races and seven being player's choice. Prices are capped at $42 to win and $22 to place.

1 Brian Troop $232.6
2 Gary Johnson $153.40
3 Keith Davis $136.40
4 Russell Weber $136.20
5 Ricky Hurd $133.10
6 Mickey Seagle $131.80
7 Verina Puga $126.00
8 Elaine Kowaleski $124.80
9 James Appell $124.40
10 Ken Seeman $122.40
11 Terry Toczynski $121.80
12 Roger Neubauer $119.50
13 Ken Jordan $118.90
14 Mike Fields $115.80

16 Jerry Bannister $110.70
17 Robert Rowlands $109.80
18 Tim Anderson $107.20

That horse was sent to GG to win just as NY trainers slide 'can't get over' maidens to Philly.
