Hey gang - good stuff! The Carnival is not far off. In case you haven't already, if you sign up to receive the DubaiRaceNight Newsletter, which is free, you will receive a link to the Dubai Racing Comprehensive, with its voluminous info previewing the 2010 Carnival and reviewing the 2009 edition.

Horses to watch, etc...should be fun.

As always, I'm sure the contest will be a go too.

It's a great newsletter / site.

I guess Jet Express and Mashaahed were the big stories of the day but I'm cuirous how Dynamic Saint looked. I love this one.

I thought Dynamic Saint would have popped a big one considering his incredible run third off a layoff last year at the Carnival when he looked hopelessly beaten.

Meeriss ran a real cracking race in my opinion, a steadily improving horse, moving up the ratings. Dhruba Selvaratnam WILL have a longshot winner at the 2010 DIRC, almost a guarantee.

The shocker of the day was Celtic King in the fourth race, off a 68 rating and having won easily at Sharjah just 6 days ago. This field hovered with a bunch of 80s and 90s and this guy is just improving at the right time to beat middling competition. A very nice win.

Well hopefully Doug Watson has a stellar season and Dynamic Saint is a part of it!

I only vaguely know the name Celtic King... really the only horses I have heard of in that field were Minefield and Step in Line.

Anyway thank you in advance for the updates, first hand accounts and for answering silly questions (like is Salaam Dubai still in training.... things like that!).

Sadly, I am not first hand as in "on the ground" - just an information hound with a host of contacts. I do not believe Salaam Dubai is in training. DubaiRaceNight will have live nightly blogs from a correspondent at Meydan this Carnival, though. Should be interesting.

Talenta was voted champion 2yo filly of her generation (raced 08/09 season). Her major win was the GP Margarida Polak Lara-Taca de Prata (G1- the c in Taca has a curlique on the bottom so it is pronounced Tasa. Tasa de Prata means Silver Cup). Margarida Polak Lara is a 100yo lady who has been a prime mover in Brasilian racing for most of those years.

There are two sets of Classic races in Brazil, one at each of the major racing centers, Rio and Sao Paulo. The latter runs its classics in the spring (our fall), culminating with the Derby Paulista, whose most recent winner of which is Tenarin list. The 2000 Guineas equivalent in Sao Paulo is the GP Ipiranga, won in 09/10 by Real Secret.

It's very cool and thank you for making it available.

I was thrilled to see a girl I've been following in South Africa made your list... horses to watch out for.

Zirconeum!

MdK (the quote is on the kids from SA thread) commented once saying she could be ever better than Irridesence. Nice, nice girl.

Her performance in the Durban July was nothing short of spectacular and I'm glad she was rested following that for some tries in Dubai.
