He has done enouh he couldn't beat the filly that won the Alabama with a 1/16 of a mile head start. he will make a terrific stallion in Paraguay or Turkey.

I never said anything about the filly today.
He would have won The Whitney this year. I dont doubt that for a second. He has to be better then Bullsbay and Macho Again.

I hope they run Zenyatta in the Distaff since they have Tiago for the Classic, he's the best handicap horse evah.

In all seriousness, I wish they'd run that chump on dirt. He'd be a friggen superstar on the east coast right now.

That horse looked really bad, I thought he looked horrid in the post parade, he is not the most energetic horse but he looked like he had been Aced or something. I know they will say it was a prep, or the turf but that was just flat horrible.

On the positive side, you'll get good odds on him for the Goodwood

He ran a pretty good 2008 Classic though. He admittedly sucked up and did tons less running than Curlin or the top 2 and was significantly worse than them, but still it was one of his better races.
He's always been overrated, but let's face it - the handicap division sucks on dirt. A solid horse like Tiago who can finish consistently is actually a meaningful figure in the sparse division.
On synthetic there are 5 times as many others who can be just as good for any given race, and when the talent goes world class he really has no shot to dream of winning(last year's suckup 3rd aside).

I made the buyer beware analogy of name dirt horses that return on turf after an extended layoff about a month and a half ago with Colonel John, that time it didn't materialize, however as anyone saw yesterday Tiago looked absolutely awful in a very weak field that was even minus a money burner probable 2nd choice Becrux. Maybe it was an experiment but he certainly doesn't belong on turf after that episode.

like I said elsewhere, the people that made that horse 4/5 and used him in any multi race sequence are my hero and the reason that there is hope in this game.

It wasn't an experiment. His trainer clearly said he wasn't looking to see how the horse performed on grass but was using this race to get him ready for a run at the Goodwood and BC Classic. That's what I was saying earlier when Colonel John was racing. Too many people look at the race and read too much into it instead of looking at the purpose of the race. The purpose for both of these horses was just to get them back on the track and get a race into them. They weren't the goal races. Tiago did look awful yesterday. He would have looked awful on any surface the way he ran yesterday. To blame it on the grass would only be an attempt to prove you are right about dirt horses returning on the grass.

Exactly. And Shirreffs pointed out he didn't want them to run on the Poly.. so grass it was.
