isn't she three? i thought older female went to four and up, since there's a separate award for the younger sets...

Ouiji Board (if i spelled that right) should easily be the older mare of the decade.

The criteria said older american and i accidentally put "zarkava" instead of "zenyatta".

Zenyatta is the best older mare i have seen this decade with Azeri being a close second.

It would be interesting to see a field with these fillies and mares on dirt 9f at Belmont:

Sigthseek
Zenyatta
Azeri
Spain
Riboletta
Ashado
Heritage of Gold
Beautiful Pleasure

I like your list here.. eventhough I dont remember if HoG or BP ran in the 90's or 00's... all the years kinda mix for me.. which is bad cause I havent had too many years here..

Ouiji Board did run in North America though, a few times and it was PRETTY good!!

I think she's way better than anyone on that list besides maybe Zenyetta (whom OB is probably only slightly better than).

This reminds me of an argument I had yesterday with someone who thinks Zenyatta is the best filly since Personal Ensign.

Hypothetically, if you had to select Eclipse Awards for this decade 2000-present, who would your picks be (only one per category) for the following categories. It would also be helpful to me if you put the year next to the names as well. Even if you just answer a few of these if you don't have the time would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I barely remember the horses that ran last month, let alone 8 years ago.

Is this the same Ashado that lost by 9+ lengths in the 2005 BC distaff?

I think there is an argument that Ouija Board is the best horse to run on the turf in the US this decade. If you lined up the 8 or 9 BC Turf winners and put her in the field, I'd bet she's no worse than 3rd choice...

this Smarty Jones stuff is kinda funny.
Bernardini would have blown him away.

hard to say that that's true, but i would think bernardini was a bit more accomplished. but that's only because he lasted longer thru the year than smarty, and was able to face older horses, something smarty didn't get to attempt.

Bernandini beat one sad field of olders then lost to Invasor- nothing to be ashamed of there. It would be interesting to see who would win if the two raced 10f, but up to there, I'd take Smarty.
