Default question about Saratoga

is there a dress code for the paddock and winners circle? if so what is it?

No shorts. Prefer no jeans.

And 'old school' Saratoga called for gentlemen to wear their jackets while in the boxes.. and leave them on no matter how hot it got..

Looks like I am going to be moving soon.. could make the trip difficult.

I will have to wait until the last minute to decide to make the trip. Is there a place to stay west of Saratoga/ Albany that you would recomend.
anywhere I should avoid on the 16 hour DRIVE over.

coming from central Illinois. eventually end up on I-90

and I would like to stay close but not necessarily in Albany

I drive 45 mins from the Spa (Fonda), I'm sure you could a nice motel in the Johnstown/Gloversville area, 40 mins from the Spa.

I don't know of any spots that are bad to be on I-90, the drive through PA and western NY is wicked boring though.

Like HHH said the Johnstown/Gloversville area is about 40 minutes west. Utica is a little over an hour west, Syracuse about two hours west, and Rochester a little over three.
