Default ESPN again uses confusing camera angles

Oh well I guess I should be watching the webcast instead. That blimp view or whatever is just plain disorientating!!

Why they just don't give us the standard split screen live is beyond me. They can use the other cameras for replays, but during the live running we need to have the split screen. It's what we're all used to, and gives the best view of the running race. TVG does the same thing. Drives me crazy when they don't use the track video feed.

Same BC BS year after year.....

They just refuse to do anything to help the player follow the races on TV or at the tracks getting simulcast. The weirdest thing of the day was hearing Todd TVG on the voice via youbet's feed.

The best day of racing is spoiled by the lack of adequate technology which has become the industry the other 364 days a year....yeah I know you can follow the silks but why should you have to work so damn hard to watch a race....

While the CALRACING web stream was just what the doctor ordered,

it seems that they're NOT showing the REPLAYS of the BC races on their site.

Beautiful.

Amen to that

yes, next thing they will try is the XFL camera angle where they zoom in so tight you won't have any idea where the horses are anywhere.. shoot. I am afraid I just gave some a brilliant suggestion. I can hear it now... "lets do like they did for that movie Seabiscuit"

That's just hilarious, sadly. I long ago gave up trying to watch racing on ESPN and the XFL analogy sums it up better than I ever could have. I got so dizzy trying to watch ESPN racing that I was ready to vomit.

The worst part is the freaking start shown from ground level. you can hardly tell if your horse broke good or bad then have to try to pick them up when they change the angle going into the first turn. The blimp angle is interesting if they show it afterwards and you can see exactly what path your horse was in because you already watched it one time and know where to look. Otherwise it was awful. I'm sure that they think this is appealing to "new fans or the general public". It's 'cutting edge'! It is a fuc kin joke!

And someone should tell them overhead shots showing that half the parking lot is empty is probably not a good idea when you are trying to showcase a 'big event'.

I think that a lot of complaints that are made concerning the game or BC are sometimes misguided or unrealistic but the coverage of these races on ESPN is really close to unwatchable.

I just watched the 9th on TVG.

I agree that the camera shots are confusing. I had my horse in the middle of the pack on the far side, then lost him for good when they went to the overhead for a few seconds.

The sunlight on the saddle cloths didn't help in the stretch.

heart shaped really ran like crap from the 12 hole
seriously though overall they didnt run well but if you follow this notion all the way through it is bound to burn you at least once. visit ran a solid race and the synthetic euros didnt fare well. i doubt the heat is what did most of them in today.

I was diappointed in Halfway to Heaven but Heart Shaped was my top pick and Maram my second, so while a reversal of the phto would have been nice, the Euro was hardly a disgrace, from post 12.

you are right but remember you said Euro, singular one horse out of 8 showed anything, I see a couple doing okay sat. however for all the hype this year on the Euros I think it's going to be poor showing, just an opinion, i'm not a pro like all the bloggers on the site.

Visit ran well before patently failing for stamina.

I thought the second and third in the 'Ladies Classic' are classified as Euros (for all they've never been to the continent in their lives!).

Can you imagine the outrage if this was a dirt track and the times were that fast? 119.4?

Why is it a Joke, it was a great Day of racing.

As far as Track records these are some of the best horses in the world in there respective divisions.
And do you really think if SA would have had there old dirt track they would been running any slower. SA would have had the track as hard as the the Santa Monica Free Way. Oh I forgot it was like that everyday anyway. IF you remember 10k claimers would run 108 and change everyday on the old dirt track.

THere were great story lines every where.

The track is simply too fast. Look at the times from the first 2 races which were not the best horses in the world. Read what I said again. If this track was a dirt track and the times were this fast people would be absolutely freaking out.The filly sprint was won by a dead closer who won by 4 and they shaded 120. The only filly I ever remember shading 120 ever was Melair and Ventura while a nice filly aint no Melair.

Two races for optional $40k claimers went in 1:14.26 and 1:14.88

F/M Sprint in 1:19.90

Juvenile Fillies in 1:40.99, fastest ever for the event. Faster than any of the males ever in the Juvenile.

Distaff in 1:46.85, second fastest ever behind only Inside Information's 1:46.15 which was done around one-turn at Belmont.

Sorry Cannon I must have been typing same time as you I had not seen your post before I sent mine. No Doubt it's very fast but the old SA track was extrememly fast too I think one of the big factors is that they have no Ideal how to slow it down. But you know if every horse that raced today comes back good and lives to fight again I can live with the track being that fast
