discreet cat, who has been on hold all summer, is their older for next year. i betcha! bernardini becomes their draw at darley @ jonabell.
I don't agree. The Sheikh was obviously extremely excited about Bernardini, so much so that he called in to ESPN. He clearly adores watching his homebred race and he's a sportsman. I think Bernardini will definitely run next year.

he may enjoy watching him, but he enjoys all aspects of horses and racing....
hey, i hope i'm wrong. but like i said, they have discreet cat, and the don't plan for them to face the rest of this year.

this guy wants a derby winner, who better than his first classic winner to sire that winner?

hey, for horse racing fans everywhere, and for myself, i hope you're right and i'm wrong.

Anything can cause a horse to ose a race ... including many non-physical mishaps.

If Bernardini goes into the starting gate often enough ... he'll lose.
He sure did look good today waltzing around Toga again..... I'll admit that for sure.

he sure did!

BUT

think back everyone...just a year ago.

flower alley won the travers, and a lot of people picked him to destroy older. win for fun...by open lengths, yada yada (kinda like what we've seen the last few weeks about bernardini)...and then HE went to the jcgc.

again, BUT..i will say i think bernardini is much better than flower alley. he's answered one last test in restricted comp...bring on the older!! onward and upward...

I've posted it many times ... but I'll do it again ...

You're never as good as you look when you win ... or as bad as you look when you lose.

Keep everything in perspective.

Believe me, I have everything in perspective.

In no way do I think he is the best horse on the planet, and he will lose.

I'm under no illusion that Bernardini is the next Bid or Big Red, but that's no knock on the horse. He's still a relative baby and he's shown potential for true greatness - that's what excites me. Isn't that why we watch horse races? This should be a fun thing, watching Bernardini go through his paces and possibly join the ranks of great horses. We don't get this caliber of horse very often- I'm going to enjoy it.

I will say that I think it's unfair for his races to be somewhat denigrated by having them called mere public workouts, as if he didn't put any effort into them. Bernardini is winning so easily because he's so good - he shouldn't be penalized for being incredibly talented.

calling a race a public workout isn't denigrating at all...

I really should have edited my post as soon as I entered it. Let me say that no one here has denigrated Bernardini's performance yesterday - denigrated was a poor choice of words on my part.

What I really meant to say is that I've seen comments (not necessarily on this board) that Bernardini hasn't been tested yet because his races are public workouts. Well, that's possibly true, except that he did face a couple of challenges from BC yesterday and shrugged them off. He passed that test. However, if he's going to be a great horse, he's got to pass several tests. The Gold Cup is a huge race for him........what a day that's going to be.

I think bernardini is better than the Zapper...I really do if you look how easily he is winning right now and not even being asked for his best and being so lightly raced and young in his career...he'll only get better which is really freakin' scary....
