Default Someone explain this to me

Keeneland Race 5, Sunday Apr 23:

10 shows strong early speed in his recent starts and elsewhere in the field only the 2 shows early speed. 10 breaks cleanly and has a chance to push on and move up to sit outside the 2, but Rosario decides to take hold 4 wide without cover into the turn and drift back to be in the second half of the field as they crawl through a 49 and change half going a mile on the turf: the furthest back the 10 has been through the slowest fractions of all his turf races. Rosario then tries to move up 4 wide late on the backstretch to put himself into contention but it's too late...as you might expect off those fractions, 2 wired them. 2 was 6-1 with 0 MTP and went off at 5-2.

All a bit strange...

It was an abysmal ride. I have no idea what he was doing.

But if you have been paying attention at all, horses have been getting bet hard late there. The winner was the pick 3,4 and 5 favorite, so the final odds made sense.

I bet the runner up and am still trying to figure out how I lost.

I did notice that after my post and I suspect the flurry of late money was probably based on computers reading the odds as an overlay, similar to what happens in Hong Kong.

Chart makes for worse reading...about half the field have comments of "rank" or "pulled hard", as if no one out there other than the winner knew how to read or judge the pace.
