![]() It's a joke that they're not in Rick and roll hall of fame.

The Monkees, I understand (and before I get attacked, I love the Monkees; I've seen every episode of the show multiple times; I saw them three times in concert, I stood in line for hours to get an autographed copy of Davy Jones' "They Made a Monkee Out of Me" and I wept like a baby when he died. If I ever meet Peter Tork in person I will probably lose my mind). But they were a TV show first, a band second, and I don't think musicians have ever cited them as an influence, likely because their sound, at their most successful, was not their own creation. There are other big 60s bands that aren't in, for similar reasons- the Turtles, the Grass Roots (both of whom I LOVE). Not influential, and in the case of the Grass Roots, also largely studio created.

![]() Last saw Three Dog Night in 2013. Always great show. Also saw Grass Roots just past their prime in late 70s.
Common thread with many of the non Rock n Roll HoF bands is that they excelled at 'pop' music. Very formula-like, solid singers, quality musicians, and usually great showmanship. As with all Halls of Fame, you can't admit everyone. My favorites, 'Mama Told Me (Not to Come)', 'Liar', 'One', 'Temptation Eyes', 'Hush', 'Highway Star', and 'Woman from Tokyo', each remain great tunes for me. RIP Cory

Gary Puckett's songs all kind of sounded the same. "Young Girl You'll Be a Woman Soon." I see a pattern here. And it's kind of creepy.
