Time to bump this thread as this was initially about Higher Incentive and she's running tomorrow.

She's supposed to go by Diamondrella in the stretch last out. She got the perfect setup for it; Diamondrella being outside of her on the turn, probably moving a bit too soon, and changing leads after HI. Of course, after a fast and contested quarter they also accelerated the last 1/8th, dusting the rest of the field. This was the day for accelerating the last 1/8th as Viva La View did likewise (after slower splits) in the 9th. Visually, she hung like a rat. Otherwise, I'm resisting, slightly, because of the acceleration late. She will take money, however.

So do we like Higher Incentive tomorrow or not? I'm confused.

I don't like her to win BUT can we establish whether she hung or not? Don't you find the fact that both sprints that day had accelerated last 1/8th's interesting?

i think she was defeated by the better horse, maybe she hung a little, but i dont have any doubt that the winner is better then higher incentive

BEL: 5/23/08 R8 have proved to be a very interesting and fruitful (though not in terms of price) race:

1) Diamondrella, 2nd best trip in the race, cuts back and wins

2) Senior Rita Lady, no shot given setup, comes back and wins stretching out

3) West of Gibraltar, perfect trip winner, bombs at low odds stretching out

did I miss anyone?

I'm not sure I get the "accelerated last 1/8th". Don't we see that quite often? Isn't that what we like to see from out turfers? Whether it be a closer, who's last quarter is their fastest, as was the case with Higher Incentive or a loose on the lead speed, like Viva La View, who might get a break in the middle quarter?

I started breaking down the turf races the other day and tired of it. Accelerated last 1/8th's are not typical. They happen but certainly not a majority of the time; and not off 21.64 quarters.

i also want to point out that this is a very very weak group and the mott horse could be tons the best.... i will be taking a stab with INNY.

It's a tricky race tomorrow that obviously has a much different pace scenerio than when she ran last time.

I guess she could win but, like you, I doubt it.

I have no idea as to the ability of Mott's horse. But I like the cut back on Sophie's Salad, think she's well meant, and will fall into a good trip. Would love to get morning line on her. She's ready for a THROW DOWN.

She's not much but she did get a poorly timed trip last time and looks to have a better set up tomorrow.

Why would anybody like Mott's horse?

Isn't it nice when the obvious is just that, obvious?

she is a nicely bred turf horse, especially compared to this field.

but you have to think she is maybe pointed to the mile distance, and wonder if this is a race to get some speed in her.

I don't understand how anyone can bet the Mott horse at that price with his stats. Buona Sera's a little interesting. . .
