SANTA ANITA HAS PICK SIX CARRYOVER OF $181,514 INTO SUNDAY

ARCADIA, Calif. (Feb. 3, 2008)—No one hit the Pick Six at Santa Anita today, resulting in a Pick Six carryover of $181,514 into Sunday. Upsets were the order of the day and Intangaroo’s win in the Gr. I Santa Monica Handicap, which was run as the seventh race, served to derail many tickets. Intangaroo returned $55.80 to win, while the 3-10 favorite Hysterical Lady, ran fourth in the field of five.

Today’s Gr. II Strub Stakes, carded as the ninth race, saw even-money favorite Tiago run second, with Monterey Jazz returning $13.60 to win. In the eleventh and final race, only one horse, Shem Tov, was “live” in the Pick Six and he ran second, beaten a nose.

Today’s carryover was the ninth of the meet on the 22nd day and will be contested in races four through nine on Sunday. First post time tomorrow is 11 a.m. Santa Anita will begin a reconstruction project on its main track following Sunday’s races. As a result, there will be no live racing or simulcast racing at Santa Anita on Monday.

There will be simulcast racing available on Wednesday and Thursday, with free General Admission offered to all attendees. Santa Anita’s winter/spring meet will run through April 20.
