Next Wave of Three Year Olds

Here is a great article from the Bloodhorse about the the 3yr olds. Sounds like this Bright One horse with Dale Romans might be a monster.

Now that they don't have to worry about training for real racehorse distances (10f or more), these trainers can concentrate on all the graded sprints and miler races to build the horses' reputations for future stud careers. sorry if I sound cynical, but that's the way horses are handled these days.

All of the money is in breeding today. The graded sprints aren't necessarily that great for future stud fees, but the 8F and 9F races sure are.

I noticed Lawyer Ron's name was not mentioned anywhere in that article. (even at the end where they named 10 "proven" 3yo). I thought the horse was back in training and was being pointed towards some of the big 9f races in the late summer and fall. Did I make this up?

The other thing is that there are plenty of 3 year old races available right now to keep them all separated until Breeder's Cup Classic or Sprint or wherever they choose

Yep, I saw he was entered. gonna load up on a Grand Slam bet!!!

It would be nice if South Of Broad became a good race horse ... because ...

... because the continued life of the Domino line depends on Broad Brush producing a son who becomes a successful stallion.

Heavens, Betsy ... you're right.

This happens every May/June/July ... a colt breaks his maiden by open lengths and everyone is projecting him into the Travers.

Hey ... if every maiden winner made the Travers ... they'd have to run it in eleven divisions!

Bright One will make a ton of noise before his career is over. Not sure about the others.

he is a son of Beautiful Pleasure by Thunder Gulch. he is stakes placed as a 2 yr old fininshing 2nd in a 6.5F test. he had a 5F work at the Spa on 6/23 in 102.91. there are 2 4 yr olds in this wed feature. Organizer is one. He's pretty tough, by Raffies Majesty, who sires some nice horses. Organizer is coming off a very game 2nd in the Ormsby S. (8F) over a wet track, on 6/8.

overall this race, the wed. feature at Belmont, lol, is not as deep as Minister Bid's feature. i wouldn't be surprised to see Organizer scratch cuz he's comin back kinda quick off a tough race. the other horses haven't done a whole lot either and their trainers are trying to get them in the right direction.

Include's first foals are running this year and he's already had a couple of winners. Concern may have been too much of a one-paced stayer to make it as a stallion in the US, but Include had a bit more speed to him.

Agree completely with HoisttheFlag. Bright one will make a ton of noise later this year. There were 3 1 mile races the day he broke his maiden (Maiden and a NW1) and he ran 2 full seconds faster than any of the other 30 or so horses that tried that distance. Just watch the race. It also flatters him that the horse that beat him his 1st time out came back to beat pretty good NW1 company this past Saturday (and what a gift that race / horse was in that spot).

Bernadini went from Maiden to Best 3 year old on the planet in a few short months. Don't sell this one short yet.

Excellent horse. About as impressive as an maiden winner this year. I would say it is 99% that he will be in the gate for the BC Classic. Doubt he wins, but he will be there.
