There's no choice to be made - JV is going to ride Mo. Mott should have chosen a new jock so THAS could get used to him. The one argument I saw against this is that since JV knows THAS, he could advise Mott after the FOY just how well (or not) the horse has progressed.

If Mott went with someone else then UM gets hurt he can get JV back if he wants. Why not get the new guy on him now? Why wait? UM is going to have 2 preps and likely face no one in those races. Unless he has turned into a cripple it would be a big suprise if he is not in the derby starting gate.
The horse can rate - he did in his maiden win under JV. There was absolutely no speed in either the Nashua or Remsen and THAS, the best horse, fell onto the lead - it wasn't because he wouldn't rate. Mott had previously indicated that he wanted a new jock on THAS as soon as possible, so clearly he had a change of heart - and that DRF article gave us nothing. That said, as others have mentioned, Mott and Webber don't think it's a big deal, so I guess it's not.

How fast did Rattlesnake Bridge work at the 2YO sale to fetch $450K with that pedigree?

Any info on the horse? The field looks weak for the most part.

Nothing in particular. I was surprised the horse sold for that much, but adding to what Freddy said, Young bought Trappe Shot (also by Tapit) at the same sale in 2009 for the same connections. The horse at the sale that really impressed me, both in workout and physically, was a $240K Lion Hearted named Amazing Hearted. He has not yet started but he's been working steadily on West Coast - my understanding was that Baffert was going to get him.

Seems like those two races today at Gulfstream are nice wagering events. I'll be standing against the favorites for sure if I decide to play. Nicky's Way and Crimson China respectively.

Nice call on Crimson China. Well bred son of Giant's Causeway out of Parisian Affair, who broke her maiden on the GP turf at first asking in 2004.

I want to love Mending Hearts in this spot, but hate the way the Pletcher ran back today. Almost 2 bad 2 be true. I dont like the 2 at all. I would like the 5, but I dont like the way that barn is going. The 7 has talent but overmatched in this spot. The 6 might be Ok, but will likely have way to much to do. That leaves me with the 1 and the 3 that I want to love but cant.

Thx, but you do know the only reason CC got up in time and didnt hang behind Ari C. and Disfraz was because I didnt wager on the race, right?

Thx for the tidbit too!

I'm interested in playing Film Making back if the price is right.
