I doubt War of Will is gonna run in the derby. Signalman should be looking at other options too.

On one of the ATRs this week, Steve indicated that Casse was still pointing toward the derby with WOW. I guess we’ll see.

WAR OF WILL (4/13)

(If concerned about his status, watch his :59 bullet at KEE this morning.. Note his extended gallop out to over a mile)

Is that work supposed to be encouraging? He looks uneasy and trying hard.

as of right now.....I am liking these. Since Harvey and Toddy let me down I have to re-group. Will try to cut 1 or 2 before the race and try a few box ex and tri's....bbut that is subject to change.

5/4 (CD): KENTUCKY DERBY

1. Tacitus 150 (Mott/J. Ortiz) $610,000

11. Improbable 65 (Baffert/I. Ortiz) $589,520

.....or I could just bet every horse who isn't a Baffert or Pletcher entry which eliminates 5.

Looks like the hype is starting for By My Standards...Any thoughts on his pedigree? I really like this horse but am having a difficult time convincing myself that Goldencents can get a horse to run 10F. Don’t know much about A Jealous Woman. Probably just overthinking it.

From a 2013 press release:

Hard knocking A Jealous Woman comes off a game win over the course in the Megahertz Stakes on Jan. 19 and is at the top of her game at age seven. Sent to the sidelines in the spring of 2010 with a bowed tendon, trainer Francis Meza

“Right now, she's at her peak,” said Meza on Thursday morning. “She's at her best. Last Thursday (Feb. 7) she worked five furlongs on the grass in a bullet 59 flat with Brice (regular rider, Blanc) up. He always works her.”

Blessed with an abundance of speed, Blanc can place his mount close to, or on the lead. Owned by a pair of retired mailmen, Richard Reid and Nick Tamborrino, who race as the Three Cent Stable, A Jealous Woman has now banked $443,856 from a mark of 19-8-3-3.

A bit obscurely bred, but as a side note her fourth dam was Miss Musket, who got buried by Chris Evert the horse in a match race.

Steve - I’ve seen a few times on HRN where it says Mott hasn’t decided on a jockey for Country House. Are they just way behind you or is Country House still riderless?

My ranking right now looks something like:

1. Tacitus
2. Omaha Beach
3. Tax
4. Vekoma
5. Game Winner

I’ll narrow it down eventually. I might be the only person that really likes Tax.

I cant argue with you because of the quality of this field. Seems though running in races at Aqueduct doesn't mean much anymore. Could be another Giacomo type year.

This makes no sense.

Horse would be 3/1 to win a Triple Crown race and they’re going in a G3 instead?!?

Country House ruled out for Preakness: http://live.drf.com/nuggets/47990-br...ng-to-get-sick

BREAKING NEWS: Country House out of Preakness, per Mott, who said he's coughing, "acting like he's going to get sick"

Kentucky Derby winner Country House will not run in the Preakness Stakes, trainer Bill Mott said Tuesday, after Country House started to show signs of becoming ill at Churchill Downs, where he has remained following his Derby victory on Saturday.

"He developed a little bit of a cough this morning," Mott said by telephone. "He appetite is good. He doesn't have a fever. But he's coughing. We drew blood. He's acting like he's going to get sick. He's off the training list, and if he's off the training list he's off the Preakness list.

"It's probably a little viral thing," Mott said. "Hopefully it doesn't develop into anything serious. Usually when something like this happens a horse misses a couple weeks of training. He's not seriously sick right now. But he's showing indications that something is going on."

No Maximum Security, no Country House, and no Code of Honor. So not a single one of the 1-2-3 finishers from the Derby will run in the Preakness. That has to be the first time this has happened.

Going to get all the "new" fans with that news. I wish they'd quit running that annoying preakness commercial while im trying to watch my bruins play.

I wonder if Shug McGaughey will have a rethink with Code of Honor.

At any rate, in 1985 the 1-2 finishers Spend A Buck (Jersey Derby) and the ill-fated Stephan's Odyssey (Peter Pan) opted out of the Preakness. Show horse Chief's Crown started and was tagged at the wire by Derby also-ran Tank's Prospect.

I've heard it's more of a big choke than a little cough...You know, the notion of being exposed and all....
