Dominguez is more that an "inner dirt specialist." Did you miss his performance at Belmont and Saratoga this year? He gave Gio Ponti a perfect ride in the Classic; Gip Ponti was simply outfinished by Zenyatta (who followed Gio Ponti from the half-mile pole to the quarter-pole along the rail).

+1 Gio Ponti had cover, saved ground, split horses late and ran his race. 9/10 a horse wins with this type of trip. There was no doubt who was running faster the last 1/4 mile and that horse won.

His last race though ... the final time was highly unimpressive when compared with other races that day at the same distance.

I don't know what was going on with track condition (or with the timers?) in the race you're comparing to 2-yr-olds, but there's no question Rip Van Winkle was considered one of Europe's best this year.

Maybe their current 2-yr-old crop will blow us away next year. ;>)

Wow.... that's pretty scary that the list you posted came out today.

I feel sorry for European handicappers - they seem to have absolute garbage for information available to them regarding their own races ... and they all sound like complete imbeciles whenever you hear them try to talk about our horses.

You're right. My head almost exploded watching Racing Post BC analysis videos.

It's amazing how prevalent and accepted gambling is there and how far behind they are from a handicapping perspective.

Yeah.

I'm sure they probably have some real sharp handicappers over there hidden away somewhere ... but there's no way it includes the guys they put on tv or the ones who write the articles which I happen across from them.

They use real nice flowery words and phrases and sound smart ... but it's facepalm time when they actually talk handicapping methods and our horses.

Just imagine if he was able to beat Interpretation in the Joe Hirsch... and do a little better than 5th in the Strub behind Cowboy Cal over the Santa Anita Pro-Ride earlier in the year.

Had he done that.... he might be tied for 3rd with Rip Van down by the river Winkle ('sup Chris Berrman)



I think if the people who still rank RVW 3rd in the world after his last two races got to vote on college football ... they'd probably have the OU Sooners 3rd in the country right now behind Florida and Texas.
