Interesting question,Bid.

If catcher is the most critical position on the team defensively speaking ( certainly the most critical in foul territory) ....well I'm just going to have to put my thinking cap on for this one.

It's not a well covered category in history, but from what I gather having read.....my stab will be Gary Alexander.

I was willing to accept Chris Bando, or Andy Allison

Was it not a noble effort however trying to one up the master?? It is humbling to give it everything you've got and come up well short. I am like Ohio State in a BCS title game. I really thought I could get him this time but the last word can never be mine...

...crap.

One more chance...again without looking it up:

A....Name all 5 retired Browns numbers and the names of the players associated with the numbers.

B....Name the Brown who is 2nd career all time receiving yards,3rd in td's and leads the list with 19.6 avg. yrds. per catch...all this despite playing in 9 12 game seasons. He also held the Texas Relays 100 yard dash record at 9.5.

c...What was the aboves number?

Absolutely NO CHEATING allowed.

It's all time for the Browns....'46 through last year....and since they didn't play from '96 through '98 it would not include a disgsuting raven.

But there is a hint of when he played in the question.

Jim Brown 32
Otto Graham 14
Lou Groza or Marion Motley76??
Bill Willis 30
Len Ford 60

not sure...probably lots of mistakes here.

I dont' know...I would say Lavelli or Speedie but they weren't that fast. Dub Jones?? Gary Collins caught lots of TDs but didn't play 12 game seasons...so not him and he wasn't fast. I don't know if you're including AAFC stats in your all time stuff either. I never count those. I"ll say Lavelli, but don't know his number...

66??

Bad...only 2.5 on the retired jerseys...got 3 numbers and 3 people but wasn't sure. Shame on me for forgetting Ernie Davis as well. That is an embarrasment. (I should have cheated!!)

You are commended for being honest.

But MY GOD!!

ror!!

I don't know if you found out ,but:

Graham.....................14
Brown.......................32
Davis........................45
Don Flemming.............46
Groza........................76

Shameful Willis' 60 has not been retired....and Motley was 76 in the AAC,but went to 36 in the NFL......shameful his isn't either.

Ray Renfro is the receiver....number 26.

Doesn't get anywhere near the credit he should.

And Renfro never played in the AAC.

Lavelli ran a 9.6 hundred at Ohio State.

I forgot about Renfro...he was from Texas and his son caught the touchdown that wasn't called a touchdown for Houston in the AFC title game against Pittsburgh in the late 70s. I knew Lavelli was wrong...oh well. Maybe next time.

The math professor from Texas who played qb was underappreciated as well. It was my understanding the '65 team was better than the '64 team and they could have had back to back titles with him at qb but for playing on a pig slop field in Green Bay (I guess if they were good enough the field shouldn't have bothered them.)

Gosh...that does sound familiar. I think you have that title right.

The thing that got me on Renfro is at the pro bowl I'm told they announced only 8 Father/son teams ever made the pro bowl and 4 were Browns, but it was 3 as they mentioned Ray and Mel.
