Actually Morty is a fan but not totally blinded.

Really anyone who thinks LSU was not the better
team on that night... Those will be the ones who
always have an excuse. Illinois exposed Ohio State,
LSU made it clear.

SoCal, Georgia, or LSU pickem for #1 imo.

i just read through the osu roster. about 33 of the 100 man is from OUT of state. at a quick glance that i could pick out about HALF of the starting defense is from out of state. even the starting rb is NOT home grown.
This is as ridiculous as the Bid. Football is very big in Ohio...huge. To call Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama high school football as good as ohio it is you who is smoking dope. It is size of the state. Ohio is not as good as TExas, Cal and florida...that is it. Pennsylvania can complete but isn't as good. Every school get players from out out of state...it isn't rare. It is not a big deal they have starters from other states...all the schools do it. Ohio produces football players...period.

only reason for better high school football in the south is the warmth.

There are more reasons than that.

Year in and year out Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi produce as many, if not more, top prep players than Ohio. Look it up.

The warm weather is all I can think of, they are able to work outside on their game year round, we have snow in Michigan and Ohio. Pretty obvious that most of the best athletes are black, so the south must have more black people to get athletes from.

Speaking as a black man from the South, before you all think he was being racially insensitive or worse, stupid, realize that he's actually right. Sort of. For any number of reasons that can be debated and dissected all night long, the fact of the matter is that high majority of skill position players (except quarterbacks) are black. The same goes for basketball. I don't think he's wrong in saying that. I also agree that football is more of a year round game in the South because of the weather factor. I wouldn't agree that there are more black people in the South to get athletes from though. I would say that it's just more likely that you would find Southern athletes that play football than you will in the North.

King, what do you attribute that "typically" the skill position players are black?

Speaking as a mut from the south, specifically Texas,
I will give you my take. Texas, as a state, produces more
Div I scholarship athletes in football than any other state
for two major reasons:

1. Texas is the 2nd most populous state. (thank you peegarden the obvious)
2. Texas emphasizes football like no other state
on the High School level. It is a huge cultural thing.
The High Schools revolve around football teams.
The bands, the numerous dance teams, the ROTC
I can keep going... are huge organizations that football
spawned. Friday nights (Its now really Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights) are huge events. All these little Texas towns cultural activity is centered around football. It is quite extraordinary.

Climate is not the whole story. Many parts of Texas are excessively hot in the summer and in the panhandle, cold in the winter being along way from the Gulf warmth. California has a much more moderate climate overall and since the majority of the population is next to the Pacific (which moderates temperatures in summer and winter) they should have all the players. But California does not on the High School level. So the climate factor is not as important as the cultural one.

Texas is football crazed. Heck, the Big 12 is really conference Texas. Every team in the Big 12 this year had very good players from Texas. LSU recruits heavily in East Texas, Oklahoma has about 50% players from Texas and usually their very best players from North Texas. Nebraska use to rape Texas of players, but they dont anymore and look what happened.

Jeez Louise, even Miami, Florida, and Florida St. get great players out of Texas. One of the best RBs in the State is going to Michigan. 2 of the top lineman going to Notre Dame... on and on.
