Not saying that 94 for Nic's effort isn't right, but it certainly seems high for a place effort in a msw race

It is so uncool to actually like the animals.
Especially on a board where so many handicappers
make their 7 figure incomes handicapping.

Default I could be way off...

but when i watched Nic's first race he seemed to get up to a pretty good speed pretty quickly but lost all chance at the jump. i was looking forward to betting him yesterday but was in Alabama and wasn't about to ask my deeply southern Baptist future in laws if they minded if i headed to the otb at the bham race track. Good to see him run good was surprised he went off at 8-1 doesnt matz do ok with 2nd timers?i agree with boby fisher about maybe taking a wild shot at Keen. but i also wonder about a trip to the turf. Would love to see him at Keenland may even go over and check him out. Course his odds will be awful but would still like to see him.

Default I take it the match race is off

I went to the OTB to see some friends. The guy that announces that they are going to give changes at this or that track made a crack about Nicanor purley being bet on emotion - implying he had no shot. Then went on to rave about Zito's million dollar dud.

I've never heard a kind word about Nicanor. I tossed him and he ran great.

I bet him based on Steve Haskin's nice words about him on Steve's show. I think he mentioned him Wednesday or Thursday - I was all set to stay away and not get caught up in the emotional betting but Haskin changed my mind. I was suprised to catch the decent price. Big Top not getting up there and ruined my superfecta, though. Oh well, as usual I get 3 out of 4.

Nicanor was hurt in his first race, but has trained very well since.

I'm sure many of the bets on him were purely emotional, or fan souvenirs.

But when the major news stations follow a fan-fav racehorse and his squeeky-clean, nice, popular Olympic-medal-winning trainer, that's good news in my eyes for the sport.

Much better than coverage of Dutrow declaring Big Brown off steroids.

A big huge favorite.

Right on -- he is 2/5 with 9 minutes to post.

Nicanor ran very well again. Spoke to Matz later in the day and he gave the impression that the colt is either a little dim or needs more schooling and experience. Lezcano told him that Nicanor was looking around at everything and left and right at the horses next to him in the gate before the break. And when engaging Glitterman's Cartel, Lezcano said he kind of refused to try and go by. I was prepared to dislike Nicanor, but I have to admit I'm doing a 180 and find him interesting and fun to watch. He'll win some races.

Interesting and fun to watch perhaps, but no so much so having him anchoring the final leg of my live pick 3 yesterday

I noticed his head bouncing around just as the gate opened.
