![]() In the majority, racehorses around the world are treated well 365 days of the year. They are bred to do the job of racing.
The majority of these horses love doing their 'job'. It's just a sad fact that a tiny percentage of people in this industry let the side down, and it is this tiny percentage that the 'haters' pick up on. There are trainers out there that don't provide the best care, that don't treat their horses with the respect they deserve. Whatever the industry there is always going to be a small number that spoil it, why? Who knows. It was an interesting point about the drugs. Do you guys really think the horses actually become addicted to these drugs, especially in America where druf usage is high, although legal? I must say, coming from a country where drugs are strctly forbidden in the sport i am against it, but after all of these years it would be almost impossible to change that ruling.

![]() Anyone that agrees with just about anything said in this letter fails to see the forest through the trees. Her comments about "drugs" are stupid. Her assertion that there are horses addicted to "morphine" is false. Her using Alydar's situation as something that is commonplace in our industry is idiotic. Her comparison of dog fighting and horseracing is ludicrious. Her opinion about the owners intention concerning Barbaro is misguided. Her tone and attitude is condesending which is ironic for anyone from Hoosick Falls to be condenscending about anything. Anyone can take the negatives about anything and twist facts to serve their own agenda. Agreeing with her about anything in the context that its presented in shows a lack of understanding about what is going on in the industry.

![]() Improvements can still be made in this sport insofar as regulating drugs, outlawing dirt, and mandating a minimum number of days between races.

What happened to the 2x4 theory or the crowbar theory. Rope would have left marks, truck would have left tracks. I have seen the barn Alydar was in. He was found in his stall. I guess they dragged him around, then got him back into his stall without a trace of blood or anything. I drove a jeep through the back of my dads garage when I was about 12. He asked me to back it up and park it. I thought the damn thing had enough sense to know to go backwords on it's own. ![]() Her letter is of course one sided and biased, but even having a touch of truth is too much to put up with. As long as the industry insists on so many races at so many tracks every day, running less than healthy animals will be necessary and accepted.
With intertrack and satellite racing, it would seem less tracks need to run as many days...but greed is a terrible thing, and has ruined many sports. Just my humble opinion. |

![]() If we really want to reduce deaths in this country forget cars, although they do cause many deaths.
The number one killer is that absolutely abohorant action that eventualy brings people do their doom....eventually. Having sex....and nine months later another child is born that is sure to one day die of something. Spyder
