ya know cajun we got burned by Franny just a couple of years back with his lying while he was striking up a deal with TA&M, who was given the worst bowl beating of any team, btw, lol, I'm not bitter, just I feel if you ain't with us, you're not agianst us, but more like good riddance, granted Saben brought a national championship to LSU before leaving, while Franny left us with a loss to auburn

gander I'm surprised at the media attention these coaching serches get myself, it's like there's been more talk of this than the upcoming Ohio State-Florida game...but I do agree with cajun when she says down south, college football is the most followed sport, where I'm sure it's different in the NE

By the way, I should say that I am SCARED as a Tiger fan first and foremost. I am happy for you guys as Roll Tide fans, but I'm scared that we will lose some of our good recruits to Saban. SO, if I come across as negative, I apologize, but I'm just worried. I take football pretty seriously.

well I think you need to pick one team
having two SEC teams is equivalent to polygamy

He's not going to have an easy time of recruiting either... good old Tubby will keep him busy. Saban will be cherry picking Mississippi and most likely will attempt at stealing a few Louisiana recruits.
i'm very serious. Alabama is still one of the few places that you can win national titles with a big MAJORITY of players being from inside that state. Bama has to get back the guys from Mobile that are goin to lsu. Bama is already getting the best players out of mississippi.

tubby is not winning the recruiting in the state now. he is getting some better players from outside the state.

I can't.

I was born and raised a Gator, but I love the Tigers too. I can't help it. Believe me, I get shiat for it all the time. ESPECIALLY from my own family.

Do you want to teach me how to knit? I couldn't sew a button back on my jeans if I tried! LMAO

Have you been to Louisiana, Coach? They breathe football there... I'm even willing to say that LA has more talent than Florida in regards to football. Wouldn't you agree that Auburn gets more of the good Alabama recruits, anyway? I can't stand Auburn, but it can't be easy as a Tide fan to have Auburn in the same state.
no, I wouldn't say that, even when they've been beating us it's been 50/50 in state, problem is TT has taken advatage of his proximity to GA, and we haven't really gone into GA and we need to, as for LA, I don't know, I'd say FL has much more talent, I'm not even sure who has come out of there besides Terry Bradshaw, but don't be scared, the SEC is ultra-competitive, and probably always will be~but I'm curious if he can take away Bo and Jimbo, hehe

generally I've seen top tier is Texas, Florida, and California

Then Ohio, Georgia....Louisiana and Pennsylvania just a bit below them.

I'd say his chances of getting Jimbo are pretty damn good...

I honestly thought that Jimbo would be going to Florida State to be groomed to take over as HC for the Noles. He's connected to the Bowdens, so that was my thought...

Well yeah... Texas and Ohio would definitely be top tier. I was referring to the SEC.

Well, I'm just excited about the Sugar Bowl tonight...

I can't stand Notre Dame, so I hope we put them to shame.

I heard the same thing...

It appears that Kevin Steele (FSU recruiter) will also be going.

Bama would never do something like that
Coach Rod will be presented either tonight or tomorrow
he has already stated he will not be at the Gator Bowl
in retrospect -- the two most awesome posts in history.

Ya I know football is huge down in Florida. I worked in Atlanta for a while and almsot every weekend was spent driving from Atlanta to the Tampa area. I passed through Gainesville and even stopped a few times to eat and all you see is Gator this, Gator that.

I cant believe the Marlins have to play down there. What a jip. Given the success this franchise has had, they deserve better than the worst stadium in the majors and 5K people attending the games. Bring them to Saratoga, they would get better attendance!

Nick Saban. What exactly has this guy done? He had a ton of talent in LSU. A better coach would have gotten 2 or 3 Natl Championships there. Hes done absolutely terrible in Miami. That "play calling" against the Jets 2 weeks ago was abysmal. They outplayed them and deserved to win that game. 4th and inches and they kick a field goal? 2nd to last game of the year with no playoff implications for them against their arch rivals and they kick a field goal?

2 or 3 national championships in a coaches first five years AND in the SEC? Coach Bryant didn't even do that.

Wow.

Well let me give a big congrats to the Bama faithful. They got a good coach. I haven't had a chance to read about it or watch the press conference. I did hear Haizenga say briefly about the very difficult situation the Saban's were in as a family and the Bama job would suit that situation best. What exactly is the situation?

Hey Bellamy....I know we went round and round on this thread, even cost you 48 hours in the penalty box but no harm no foul...it's all in jest and there is nothing wrong with a spirited debate.

I hate liars.

I therefore now have to hate the Alabama program.

There is a phrase: NO COMMENT that can be very useful... I never trust lying SOB's like this guy, Barry Switzer, and Jackie Sherrill. Same category except as far as I know Saban is not a cheater. But if he can lie like a dog, he can cheat.

a couple of points here.

first off, plenty of fans who like an sec team will pull for other teams in the sec as long as they aren't facing 'their' team. it's not cheating or blasphemy. i enjoy football, and greatly enjoy auburn, bama, and a couple other sec teams--i'll pull for practically any sec team when they play. except of course for arkansas!
secondly, this is a great day for alabama. saban is a good coach--his only issue seems to be having ants in his pants. they have an outstanding opportunity. that being said...

i'm VERY disappointed in saban. i feel this is just another indication of a complete lack of commitment, of dishonesty, of lack of honor that is so prevalent in this day and age. this guy left a top notch program to try out pros. two years is no effort. i think he's a quitter in this respect. he may have been unhappy, but he gave his word to an owner who asked for a commitment that he readily signed off on--but couldnt back up.
i agree completely with lou holtz--and if anyone knows the ins and outs of coaching, fans, etc, it would be holtz. he said this move is good for 'bama, and good for saban--who will go back to college football that he probably shouldn't have left-BUT he said nick will always have a pain from this, regrets, the feeling he didn't quite do right by miami. and he's right. nick will always feel that maybe he didn't try hard enough--and he didn't.

i wish him luck. i enjoy alabama and will enjoy seeing them reclimb the sec ladder--and other than when they face lsu, i wish them luck!
