Any success for "third parties" seems to be limited to local government, with rare exceptions. On the state and federal levels, the two parties have all the resources, and it's rare for a third partier to even be allowed to debate them. FWIW, in every presidential election in which I have voted, I've always considered my vote to be for the lesser of two evils.
