IT IS SO AWESOME THAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT, just keeps people complaining and bitching about the playoff and WE FINALLY MIGHT SEE IT soon.
It would be awesome for them to just do it this year, make a judgement call and say "You know what, I am picking 8 teams, and you guys are actually going to PLAY to win the National Title, instead of automatically being handed a 50% chance (natural odds) to win the stupid thing"

there absolutely should be a playoff... adding a game to the schedule and losing the bye week certainly put a wrinkle in their fabric of 'can't mess with these guys education, playing too many would hinder the students'. take the winners of each conference and play them off. of course that system would keep top teams out, such as michigan and lsu. perhaps a few 'wild card' teams.
there is no perfect system. but the bcs system is so incredibly flawed.. at least a playoff would put the teams in complete charge of their destiny. look at lsu yesterday, they move up and didn't even play.
