Hmmm...Lower Manhattan, Wall Street, a center of world markets. They seem to be humming along without a hitch. DRF--screwed for the second time in 3 weeks.

Why are we making excuses for these imbeciles? They obviously have not made any significant investment in redundancy. Just call it like it is.

I think the Blizzard of '96 really hampered their infrastructure. They simply haven't been able to recover.

I would not be surprised in the least to find out they've suffered a catastrophic data breach and have no way of recovering from it. This makes no sense at all. We'll find out tomorrow when it's still down and their excuse has to change again.

I was warned by DRF there could be delays in the print edition for Friday.

DRF was somehow able to hit the streets with a timely print edition for us in SoCal.

It sure appears the issue with PPs and internet content is taking a backseat to the immediate concern of the printed page. Hopefully everything returns to normal soon and everybody can get back to their equine routine.

i think the problems started when they moved from DC to AC power..darn you nikola tesla!!

I got the email and went to the site, neither work, lol, unless traffic is too heavy. Whats the point for free PPs for today when the East coast is half over.

Part of lower Manhattan they are in (TriBeCa) I believe is quite vulnerable to flooding as their data offices are near the Hudson River. That area has flooded numerous times in weather like what they got during Derby week.

Of all the things to put in an area that's notoriously known for flooding, A data center should not be one of them. High rent and high insurance to boot. I expect a increase in the form prices soon.

Has anyone seen or heard an update from them? Free PP's are swell, but was really hoping to know if we can expect Formulator to be operational by Monday ( realizing of course there is not a chance, but would like to know officially)

There is no way possible that this is simply a "power" or "infrastructure" issue. I'm getting the feeling it will be more like weeks, not days.

I agree with you. When there is a power outage, it's not going to take several days to fix. I would have to think there is something else going on. Maybe the site got hacked. I remember for a while there when some foreign hackers were taking control of sites and then blackmailing the owners of the sites to pay a ransom. I wonder if something like that could be going on in this case.

Anyway, no matter what is causing the site to be down, I sure hope they have the site back up at some point today.
