From what I've seen, the rules to the contest is that you must bet a total of $1,000 throughout the card (which is the amount of your bankroll).
WPS, Ex, and Tri of course. Really press with your opinions and play to win. I've never done it in a contest but, if u could hit say a $200 Win parlay on 2-3 horses in the card, it would be huge. I'm still undecided on the contest. I'm already going to be out of town for the Belmont the week before.
