I tend to agree. Unless people can prove he said to do it...which is not going to happen.

Yeah, he's not that stupid. He knows his name is on the 2016 ballot for the GOP. Why would he risk that just to "punish" some mayor that didn't back him in his bid for re-election, especially one he couldn't have lost, barring no pictures of him f*cking a goat surface. He fired the DCOS that sent the email and it will be curious to hear her side of the story, if it ever surfaces.

Christie "I don't know nothin'...Not his fault...I almost believe him..

It's funny that he says he couldn't sleep for the past 2 nights but found out 8:30 yesterday morning, immediately after his workout.

All on Nixon's B-day

I KNOW NOTHING!!!!

One could have said the same thing about Nixon and the Watergate break-in. He was in no danger of not being reelected.

His problem is, if Christine really didn't know anything about it then he's an astoundingly incompetent manager, who has no control over his staff.

If he did know, then he's a criminal. Either way, stick a fork in 2016; it's done for him. Not that he had a shot in hell of being the candidate anyway.

Default What is it ? It's a toll booth. No, how much is it wiseass ?

Massachusetts Governor Duval Patrick tried a similar move a couple of years ago on Easter. Ordered all the toll booths to have skeleton crews on the busiest Sunday of the year. This was to "persuade everyone to join the EZpass program" Funny part was he got stuck in the 5 hour delay and was pissed off. Then they tried to blame the toll collectors for calling in sick, which wasn't any. Though I can't believe anyone showed knowing what was facing them. Mothers Day and Easter are really heavy traffic days with sunday drivers everywhere.
The public was furious ! they got even madder when they blamed the collectors. Public wasn't buying that line of **** for a second. The memo that ordered every interchange down to minimum, no exceptions, no OT to be called, came to light. They were exposed. LOL that the Governor got stuck in the middle of it. (the gridlock, that is)

I have never believed in this whole line of thinking. I know the political world is different, but you don't hire/appoint people to only micromanage them to death, unless you want to fail miserably.
I fully believe his now ex-DCOS (and a great many of them too) would attempt to pull of a stunt of this nature. Power is a very potent stimulant.

Why would he have no shot in hell of being the candidate?

Hope you're well.

Hi, Handsome! Always happy to have a chance to chat with you, over politics or anything. You know I never take this stuff personally (Our family is such a blend of Democrats and Republicans that nobody could or holiday dinners would be yearly disasters!)

Even prior to Bridgegazi, I didn't think he had a chance to be the candidate because while political bullying goes over well with the NY/NJ crowd, it doesn't play well in the rest of the nation (see Giuliani and his primary attempts). It's why Charles Schumer won't go farther than a Senator (if you want an example of a bully who's a Democrat). In addition, while Christie's alleged bipartisanship (which is really a media creation, but that's another story) plays well in the media (natch), it won't play well in the primaries. Primary voters don't want a bipartisan; they want someone on the extreme end of their party views. Christie is not really all that moderate, but primary voters won't see that; they'll see what the media spins, and that's a moderate.

Plus, prior to this mess, there was a whole bushel basketful of scandals that he kept under the rug that I don't think he'd have been able to keep under the rug in a national election. There are politicians who can, but they usually are ultra-wealthy or are capable of inspiring extraordinary loyalty in the people that work for them (the Bushes and the Clintons manage that, to give an example from each side of the aisle).

And being a bully isn't a bad thing if you want to win in New York/New Jersey politics (again, see Schumer, who beat D'Amato back in 2000 by getting right into the gutter with him), but not if you want to go farther.

I'll see if I can find the piece I read yesterday about previous Christie things that were swept under the rug. In the meantime, here's an eloquent essay from David Simon (creator of The Wire, which I finally got around to watching this year, ten years after it debuted and it's awesome) about the scandal:

Heh- at the rate I'm going, I'll get to it in 2022. I have heard it's really good. On the bright side, I'll be able to watch a whole season at a time. I tried to watch Game of Thrones when it first aired and couldn't do it, but then tried again when HBO had all of season one on demand and blew through the whole season in two days. For some reason, I do better getting hooked on shows if I can see at least a whole first season at once.
