Joe Mauer should have been the MVP

A Better case could be made for Frank Thomas. Much more valuable to a team that couldn't hit worth a damn.

Now Randall I do agree with that... As for Mauer, no way. He hit for avaergae. But he wasn't that power hitting run-producer the Twins so desperately needed.

Run "producers" are only as good as the three guys in front of them are at getting on. Pitching was what brought the twins back and if you dont think Mauer had something to do with that then I guess you are right.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Mauer. Him hitting for average and getting on base were huge. But if you wanna use that argument. Luis Castillo moving to the leadoff spot and Punto's emergence in the #2 spot, with them both hitting close to .300, goes just as far as Mauer. Seriously Cannon Shell- It's been literally 15 years since there's been a run producer like Morneau for the Twins. They didn't even have a guy in the so called "Juiced" era the past 10 years. A lot of guys had thei part in the great run the Twins had, but no one more than Morneau.

I'm not knocking Morneau I just think that he was probably the 3rd most important Twin behind Mauer and Santana. His stats were ok and he was not that compelling or was he clearly the catylst behind the Twins. I think that the Twins work in the regular season because of team defense, good pitching, strong bullpen, timely hitting. They are all pieces of a puzzle and to me Mauer and Santana were at least as big of pieces as Morneau. I thought that this was one of the toughest years to pick an MVP. I also believe that Albert Pujols was the NL MVP but I dont have a big problem with Howard.

Default MVP vs MVP

Every team has an MVP. What's the difference between team MVP and league MVP?
