The most amazing thing about Forego is the weight he carried and gave to his opponents. He won carrying 130+ lbs many, many times. The greatest single effort I've seen from a racehorse was his run in the 1976 Marlboro when, while carrying 137 lbs, he came wide in the stretch and ran down Honest Pleasure to win by a head. I drove 14 hors to see that race and I was not disappointed.
For me it was Cigar. My standard bet on him to win was $2000. I got on his bandwagon on the 2nd race of his winning streak. It lasted until I lost $2000 on the Pacific Classic. So 15 straights at $2000 a pop--well he made me tons of money.
