He knows my routine. No treaties before ride. After the ride, our dance begins. He gets unsaddled and put on crossties. Then he gets his "shower" to rinse off dirt and sweat. Back to the crossties for him. Next I put my tack away as he eyeballs me VERY CLOSELY! Once the saddle (always the last thing to be put away) goes into my car, the whinnies start. It begins as a low grunting, and works it way louder and louder as I get closer to him. When I get to him, he stands PERFECTLY STILL with little low nickers. I then thank him for being a good boy and then he gets his treaties. He gets so excited by the treaties. But he does know what "that is all. no more" means too. He calms right down and we go out to graze on some grass while he dries.

They say a man's heart is through his stomach, WELL SINCE I CAN'T COOK A LICK, I think the saying was supposed to be "A horse's heart is through his stomach". It is how I won Buck over. I even threaten if he is a bad boy during our ride that he will get no treaties. I bribe him at horse shows with "every blue ribbon means an apple".
