nothing like putting the horse 4 wide on the backstretch into the speed duel. Don't think he was gonna win, but i don't see the need to go, and then go wide on top of that pace

I don't think he would have won either as I don't think anyone was beating Verrazano, but he could have sat back and taken advantage of the pace, instead he used up his horse in a middle move and cost him a few placings. Not Joel's finest ride, IMO.
