Never before have I seen worse day in and day out riding than we have in this country right now. Not sure if the advent of synthetic surfaces made everyone afraid of the lead, if jockeys don't ever read the racing form...or what.

But it's bad, real bad.

Decrepit old Gary Stevens, fresh off of his miserable attempt at a training career, and his almost equally bad career as a racing analyst ... has returned to race-riding and won the Saturday feature at Santa Anita for the second weekend in a row.

It's a joy to see a gallop-girl like Jullisa, who according to Steve was getting badmouthed by the Finger Lakes jockeys, just go out and let horses run a little.

Sure, she rides like a monkey trying to screw a football and is such an eyesore in the saddle that you almost expect her to fall off... but you don't need brains or talent as long as no one else wants the lead in paceless races.

It was nice to see Gary Stevens give a lesson in front end riding today as well.

I see Doug beat me to it, though he did forget to mention Gary's illustrious acting career.
