how could you possibly think that this statement would be insulting to dahoss..

it was a thinly veiled attempt to imply that at some point in the past doug said something bad about dahoss (oh no!). rht was willing to appear like an even bigger idiot than usual to bludgeon that into the conversation.

that way he both threatens doug with the possibility of this disclosure (oh no!) and tells hoss he isn't all that well liked (take that!).

it's a fairly typical reaction for a middle school girl.
